They need to scale the damn thing with more people comes with great difficultyMy problems aren't really the fates themselves...it's the herd of players going to point a to b back to a all at the same time. Once we get there its AOE festival or press one button party. Those are my 2 biggest concerns. The first - because it looks so funny when I am mining and a herd runs by LOL.. The second- because its gameplay mechanics. Right now there isn't much when it comes to dps in party mechanics. Haven't tried heal or tank. I'd like to see more and hopefully in the future I will..
The FATE train is really annoying, especially in Quarry Mill.
I hit a wall with levelling at 30, so I figured I'd try some FATEs.
I found one, drew my sword, FATE train rode in, FATE over, zero EXP.
Rinse and repeat.
Maybe join a party then. Join them.
This is the downside of "massively multiplayer" when you're forced with the well, massive amounts of players doing the same thing you're doing.
Honestly, I don't understand why everyone has to gripe about fates. Sure, fates do give you boatloads of experience, but they are there to serve two purposes.
1. To bring people who would otherwise not party up a chance to play together and offer a sense of community through fighting against a common threat.
2. To offer a chance for something spontaneous and out of the ordinary "go here do this" type of questing. Some people play for that, and other people play for end game content. If you only care about end game content then fates are an excellent source of xp and rightly so.
It shouldn't matter if people use them to level, because what does it matter to anyone but them? If we are concerned about newbies leveling too quickly and "ruining" in-game content (which I have seen complained about) then find a free company or friends to hang out with and run the dungeons together. If it's about the "economy" of the levels, it's ok...

If you can't hang baby, there's the door
@winglynd:
1) the people farming FATE don't do that for be in group, they group simply because they will get more credit leading them to get gold... you will rarely be healed by the healer or protected by a tank.
2) when people log and band together only for run from FATE to FATE, is not spontaneous, is simply a farming.
other point, it's ruin the game actually, some area like coerthas and north thanalan are simply horrible because of the train, if you want to be spontaneous is impossible, since the zerg will destroyed the fate before even be able to do anything.
the trouble is not the fact that people only use FATE, it's the fact... that the FATE are the only way, after you did get your first jobs to 50... to level up another jobs efficiently.
worst, it's impossible to do FATE without being grouped (the boss one mostly), making impossible to queue for the dungeon.
the FATE system is good, the use the community do with it is horrible and that a huge trouble.
You sir, have no idea. Wait till the late 30's when there is not enough content to do anything but FATEs for XP. The points you make above are why I love FATEs. But, the result is not fun. Just wait.Honestly, I don't understand why everyone has to gripe about fates. Sure, fates do give you boatloads of experience, but they are there to serve two purposes.

...
People seem to forget that you also need to do 10,000 of them for an achievement. So yeah fate parties are the way to go well after all jobs are level 50.
I do not have the money like you sir to get me a new or better computer at the drop of every new game. Second I have the best internet speed for DSL in my area. Yes sir I do lag and rubber band in the high Fate areas where everyone is just sitting around on their mounts counting sheep.
