Square Enix has the means, they have the money and they have a pool of talented people to draw from in both the US and Canada. It is time to stop apologizing and start acting on the extreme issues with lag and RMT spam.
Hire a larger group of NA/EU support staff, hire more GMs, please have a better response and more frequent updates on glaring issues rather than "Under investigation, please look forward to it." The game has been live for almost a month and we are still fighting with issues from 1.0.
There are many talented and skilled community members who have provided hours if not days of research and feedback on these issues. The only thing keeping some of them from not fixing the issue themselves is not being able to physically TOUCH the servers, switches, routers, fiber lines, etc.
The RMT spam has been out of control since DAY ONE and is getting worse. There is no reason why there should be a spam bot sitting in almost every zone blasting "buy our sh*t" 30 times a minute. A lot of players blacklists are almost full at this point. We have no ACTIVE updates as to the status of stopping it.
DAYS between Dev updates, JP servers being rubbed with a diaper every time a little thing is off and NA/EU (larger market by the way) is basically being SHOWN that they don't matter. A little due dillegence would go a long way.
We have posted, we have yelled, screamed, blogged, waiting, flamed, trolled, tweeted and blasted every method of communication every single day since Phase 1 on most of these issues and Phase 4 on the rest of them.
It is tiring and to have waited so many years for this game to become what so many of us have wanted it to be just to be dumped on every day by @$$hole spammers, outrageous lag, broken story quests, invulnerable spawns, 1017, 90ks, etc.
I know this post won't change anything either but it sure feels better to vent it all out.
