Dont Know what I want to do

Ok so im a lancer and want to be a dragoon. My thing is that I don't mind waiting to be a Dragoon because I kind of want to be a tank but also a scholar. I want to play something that is needed but im also scared to Tank because of all the rage going around. I tanked in wow so I know I can learn it but I wouldn't even know what class to pick. Please help im so undeceive and I keep switching I just want to stick to one thing for now since I don't have the time to max all classes.

just stick to whatever feels the most comfortable to you for now. Don't let the immature haters push your decisions on what you want to play as. If you want to be a DD, be a DD, if you want to tank, go for it. Even if you were new to MMOs and never tanked before, but were still willing to learn, then that's whats truly important. Be whatever you want to be, and ignore anyone that puts you down, or tries to push you elsewhere. if they don't like it, then they can just gtfo the party.

As said before, pick a class you really like. You will find beginning in hatalati (lvl 20 optional dungeon) that the role of dps becomes very important. In fact, dungeons like Hatalati, sunken temple, and Totorak are made or broken by their dps members. A good tank/healer team will not win unless the dps is there to support for those dungeons. So in short, I would not worry about one class being dependent on the other. There are shortages for the dungeon queue, but those do not reflect how important those roles and players actually are in the dungeon. If you want to follow that train of thought though, tanks and healers are needed equally in dungeons, although later dungeons need more tanks than healers. Healers are more useful for FATE grinding than tanks, so it depends on your preferred mode of leveling and comfort.

From my experience, I feel that the biggest problem with tanks is players not understanding how the aggro mechanic works. Tanks in the game do not have a skill that instantly makes them the enemy's target. This becomes a major concern when dps and healers preempt heals or damage and expect the tank to easily regain enmity. Easiest solution is for the tank to charge in, take a few hits and build aggro, and then the dps/healers begin attacking/healing. If you explain the aggro mechanic to players, most will give you 2 or 3 attacks to build enmity so you can hold it. This will also give you time to mark any targets you might have missed.

As a tank, remember to always mark your targets (because of dps attacking the wrong targets, a tank might lose aggro). Remember you have skills that generate a lot of aggro, but nothing is definite, so be prepared to combo your aggro generating skills (instead of relying on a single skill like tomahawk). Don't be afraid to talk and kindly explain what you think went wrong in a fight. Also, if it is your first time tanking that dungeon, tell the members so they are ready if anything happens. If they leave the party because of that, don't worry because it just saved you a headache later on. Also, on the left-side of your screen will be indicators about how much aggro each enemy has on you. You want them to all be red. If they begin flashing or changing color, it means someone is pulling it away from you. Just attack it and maintain aggro. Otherwise, find a group of friends or your FC, tell them you want to roll a tank and want to learn, and they should be willing to help you with the dungeons until you find your feet.

For healers, Conjurer and white mage are currently most wanted in endgame light parties. Scholars can be a little more difficult to play at times, but proper management of your pet is the biggest hurdle. Assign hotkeys to the move command so you can move your pet to areas its needed or out of danger and you'll be fine. Scholars are popular for heavy parties, but they seem to be gaining some popularity for light parties as well. At least a lot of players are willing to play with them as main healer now.
