    Inequality in Class Quests

I've been in the process of leveling multiple classes, and recently did both the CNJ and MRD level 15 quests. 15 and 30 are key quests, as they give skills, often useful ones, that you need to do your job. Sometimes these quests are actually challenging, as opposed to the first couple you have to do.

For CNJ, you need to heal NPCs fighting angry anoles, while fending off water sprites and helping to kill the anoles. It's a juggling act, and quite tricky. Especially as the NPCs aren't in your PT list, forcing you to tab between them to target to Cure, while continuing to fend off the water sprites and the anoles. Especially if the anoles start killing off the NPCs and start coming after you. This would be a great quest to do on MRD, to teach you how to tank and hold hate against multiple mobs. And what do you have to do at the end of the MRD quest? Tank? Hold hate? Fend off ten mobs at once?

    Nope.

    You stun a boulder.

    That's it.

Earlier in the quest you fight one coeurl. A very easy fight that I could have managed on CNJ with no trouble. Anyone else see a discrepancy here? The last quest you do before you go into dungeons on a tank job has you stunning a giant rock. How is that teaching you anything about what you need to do as a tank?

Yeah I agree after doing the thaumaturge quest they tell you about starting from a distance, sleeping stronger mobs, cc mobs so the tank can handle them better and the final mission where you have to use everything. They even wove it into the story on how to play.

While with marauder I was thinking what are they teaching me about tanking here?

The level 30 GLD quest definitely requires some mad hate management skills.

That is absurd, every class has viability, even Archers.

Actually there's one quest in limsa for the main story that forces you to tank or you'll fail it everytime. For Muraders

Basically without spoilers, you get into a fight where you and a group of members are attacking a boss. Then the boss summons a whole bunch of adds, and some of them go after the healer. If a healer or to many members of your party dies you fail the quest. What the fight forces you to do is attack the mobs attacking the healer and grab hate off of them through overpower etc etc.

Yes, I was quite surprised by how much the Guildmasters would instruct one, at least as an Arcanist, Thaumaturge and Gladiator so far. I felt that the whole healing aspect of Conjurer could've been more involved instead of crushing corrupted elementals, but hey. Archers are a bit boring too, what with just requiring a plethora of enemies to die horribly. No fun requirements to kite or heavy movement fights to accentuate their mobility.

It teaches you to use an ability, which is the first step to tanking!!

Do you know what you did in the level 5 quest? You hit boulders.

Do you know what you did in the level 10 quest? You hit boulders.

By the time you get to level 15, when you're first supposed to start doing dungeons, what are you still doing? Hitting boulders.

    And you're okay with this?

Absolutely nothing about tanking in these quests. At least the GLA one teaches you to use Flash to keep hate off the NPC healing you. The CNJ teaches you to juggle targets, while you keep healing NPCs. The ARC ones teach you how to manage adds. THM teaches you to sleep targets. ACN teaches you to use different Carby abilities in different situations.

Next time you wonder why that MRD tank is struggling in early dungeons or maybe doesn't understand what they're supposed to be doing, blame the MRD storyline that taught him nothing about what he was supposed to be doing.
