    Make crafting more complex.

    Right now we have normal items and HQ items. This seems like a missed opportunity to me. For a game that tries so hard to make crafting more fun, and succeeds in a lot of ways, there are some obvious things that should really be there.

    If you can't make an HQ item, the only point in even trying is to get that extra experience, something that stops having a purpose once you hit 50.
    I think HQ items and HQ materials should be removed, in favour of a 1-100 quality list. Making an item with better materials, plus finding a good rotation for crafting, means a better item. This should be combined with making quest gear less good, or crafting gear better. This way there's a purpose in making for instance, a 74% quality item. It's not perfect, but it's a damn good item.

    It would make crafting something that takes more effort than it currently does, and rewards those who focus on it. Because right now the system is busted and crafting is a just money sink without equal.

    If you think crafting is a money sink, you're doing it horribly wrong. You should be making money while leveling crafting, not spending it... You have to take the time to gather your own materials.

    I agree with Trife. Although the crafting I've done hasn't made the millions that some claim to have made, I've made more than I would have if I had bought all my materials.

    You can still make a big profit levelling when buying all materials.

    Lol. This game has very complicated crafting in my opinion. Items actually need various materials to create, including relevant materials and crystals. In other games, its like 1 ingot of x impossible ore = full suit of armor. ;P

    u can level craftin with very little spending at all just balance all craftin classes n level them equally

    Crafting in this game is MUCH more complicated than any other MMO i've played. Especially when you throw in having all of the sub abilities. Knowing what to do, how to do it, when to do it are all factors that determine a failed synth to a 100% HQ. After leveling 6/8 to 50 and synthing my first two star recipes HQ, it was incredibly gratifying to see that I used ALL of my abilities to succeed. One slip up coulda been fail city. This was an epic moment in crafting, and how i think it should stay.

    I'm making money crafting 3 DoH at the same time. 1 of which is considered a huge moneysink and not profitable (LTW), 1 considered to be barely profitable and erring on a net loss (CRP), and only 1 that is considered fairly profitable (WVR). So far I've made 200k gil off crafting at the low levels, and I hear it'll increase the higher I get.

    I only farm logs, which makes CRP a lot easier. It's probably the easiest one to level out of the three, and I usually have a bunch of stacks left over to sell on the MP. I farm while watching stuff on Netflix and I usually have about 5 stacks of logs by the end of an hour-long episode.

    I have a ton of cotton from leveling BTN, so I'm using them to level WVR from 20-35. I made a profit selling Diremite Webs and Undyed Velveteen.

    LTW was (and still is) difficult to level without making a loss.

    I buy skins/hide/leather, along with the various metals needed to make belts and such, but I supply cloth with my WVR. I also only buy after I peruse the MP and make sure my leve rewards offset the cost. For example, a stack of 99 Aldgoat Leather is about 16k. A stack of Silver Ingots is about 14k. A stack of Beast Sinew is about 3k. So 33k total cost. One full leve turn-in, which uses up 9 each of the materials, rewards 3.3k, and I can repeat the leve 11 times with all the mats I have for a total reward of 36k.

    I'm still a net loss due to the crystals used, but it's manageable for the amount of exp gained. I'm also making more money crafting than I was before I had them leveled.

    ...how? I've made gil by the truckload off LTW. I could make tons and tons and tons more if I got off my lazy arse and made more stuff. While leveling, you get skins back from leves, meaning an hour's worth of farming stock lasts pretty much until the next leve. Go back and farm or buy more of the stuff below your level and you can sell HQs on the market for massive profit. While things like ingots are being sold at a huge loss (circa 75%), LTW and WVR are making bank on every craft these days. Massive inflation due to lack of gil sinks and limits on endgame dungeon runs are keeping prices high. Use that.

    Hah, yeah. Fortunately, Gigantoad Leather fluctuates up to 40k per stack on my server, and I have a surplus of them from leve rewards. Since I can level with Aldgoat all the way up to 40 and triple turn-ins don't really use Gigantoad, I can sell those later on.
