Level 50 Alchemist - Am I missing something?( Hi-Elixir's )

Ok so here I am casually raiding trying to help out my FC. Is it only me that thinks the Hi-Elixir's are stupidly expensive for what they actually give?

x1 Growth Formula Delta Concentrate (x2 Growth Formula Delta, x9 Lime Sulphur)
x1 Treant Sap
x1 Thavnairian Mistletoe
x1 Water Cluster x1 Lightning Cluster.

Anyone else think that they should make it cheaper/easier to make or am I actually missing something on how to make them ezpz? D:

They are expensive to make, and this is indeed a problem.

Alchemist's 2star recipes are pretty much all not worth doing because of how expensive most of the mats are compared to their usefulness. Hopefully it changes later, but for now we'll have to deal with it.

It's also a bit odd that multiples of these can drop out of chests in Castrum Meridianum even though it would take a single person a whopping twelve Meridianum runs in order to make one Hi-Elixir. If you actually desire Hi-Elixirs, that's your best place to go. It's also why they're relatively cheap on the Markets.

They did that to every stingle one of the two star mats used to make gear. Growth formula delta conentrate just happens to also be used to make ilvl70 weapon, so they did it anyways. They did it without thinking of the entire systems balance, thus shafting the crafter.

You make 3 elixirs per craft. It's still completely stupid though. You can also buy them on the market for cheap since everyone runs castrum for philos and no one really uses potions all that much. Alchemy as a whole is a waste of time other than making relics and melding relics, both of which are still profitable but a lot less than about pretty much anything else besides maybe cooking(and even that there's a few things that sell for good profit, even though you either need to craft a ton or sell higher stuff very slowly).

I have been making money on Gilgamesh via HQ X-potions , but this is still 125 philo stones for 30 potions. It isn't as big of a profit margin as the Weavers are making off Vanya currently but it is better than nothing until I get one of my other 50 crafter gear sets melded.

Now that WP speed runs were squashed the prices for relic books went up dramatically at least on Gilgamesh, the relic books both being well over 60k now including the bloody grimoire binding at around 45k+.

I do agree the Hi-elixir recipe is quite stupid indeed and I hope that they make some changes to Alchemy on a whole. I also posted a previous thread regarding Elemental potions without any comment and am wondering on their overall usefulness and whether or not we are missing something here.

I actually just posted in the letter from the producer LIVE IX about this. If anyone here has actually crafted Hi-Elixers, about how high of a percent chance did you have of HQ? That is the only reason to craft them right now, but, we're looking at about a 100% loss if it isn't HQ because the prices are so low from what Pyros mentioned (everyone running castrum).

This is actually true for pretty much all potions, while you can definitely make a profit with HQ potions, if they aren't HQ, they're generally worth less than the materials. I know I can still make money off of Mega-Potions, but the prices for X-Potions on Malboro (last I checked) were approaching the price of Mega-Potions.
Plus, elemental resist potions are also pretty much worthless, since they give a buff for 15s, are super circumstantial (15s is like one defense buff against one AoE in a primal fight, and the potion for each primal fight would be different, with only 3 being currently useful), and from what I've heard, the elemental resistances really don't help that much. The damage mitigated would be better restored by a shorter cooldown potion after the attack, and it'd be a too close a shave to predict if you would need the potion to save yourself since they don't mitigate that much.

Ya I levelled ALC to make my SMN precursor and meld it. I bought the gear to get up to the one star limits.

That said, I ended up buying the book and melding it myself and I've done some melds for FC mates/people shouting. But that's all I've used ALC 50 for.

I mean, can't even repair Ifrit's grimoire (it's GSM)...
