Question on how to Micromanage Scholar pets

I have been reading and am wondering what is the route for controlling your pets. Some say that you should just place them and due to their AI being so screwy just to let them do what they do. Others say there are ways to partially control them and in doing so you can improve your healing. I would like to know how to control my Eos/Seline so that i can improve my healing.

I use Seline 99% of times. The 1% is when I Swiftcast Eos during Demon Wall when bees spawn (if we chose to kill them).
In a normal fight yo can just place your pet to a safe spot where melees stay, Hit Obey and manage the buffs / heals as you like.
I usually hit Obey at the start of the dungeon and then just cycle buffs as I see fit.
Eos for Titan H obviously, but Seline for heart phase (if needed).

I've been Placing my faery and leaving her on Auto so far as I just wrote in a new thread (searched but didnt find this thread)

A question I have is WHY is my faery pulling HM Ifrit?

If I start that battle with my faery out, about 50% of the time the faery aggroes Ifrit.. I even run to the back wall and it still does it.. she is on auto yes but I don't place her til the tank has control.. and I don't move any closer to Ifrit than starting position.. Yet still about 10 times she has pulled ifrit.

The answer to this question is actually quite simple and based on 2 facts:

    A) Overhealing generates more threat than your tank could ever generate in their entire life. Shield oath + every enmity skill in their inventory won't touch the threat of overhealing a single person
    B) The faery is STUPID. Not a little stupid, but a lot stupid. In what way? "omg! The tank just stubbed his toe on a rock ... GROUP HEAL!".

The first thing the faery casts is group heal. Now, remember me saying overhealing a single person is a massive aggro magnet? How about we not only heal the tank, but then overheal 3 other people in the process? That group heal is the very first thing the faery does EVERY TIME. It's gotten to the point that I have hotkeyed "Obey" and "sic". When fight first starts, I use obey. Once the tank has aggro, I hit sic.

thanks for the reply but she is fine when the battle starts.. what i mean is.. as the battle starts.. ie. when the shield drops and everyone is standing bunched together at the entrance, Ifrit spots my faery and wipes the party

In answer to the question: I semi-micromanage.

I have Embrace (the single target heal), sic, obey, heel and place (make the pet stand in a particular location) on my control + number hotbar (which I switched from hotbar 2 to hotbar 6).

When the fight first starts I hit obey. I don't want the fairy to so much as breath without me telling her to. This gives the tank time to gather up some aggro. Once the fight is in full swing, I hit sic and leave her to it.

During low difficulty battles, I ignore the fairy and leave her to her own devices. She does ok. During high difficulty battles, I begin using ctrl + 1 (embrace, for me). I generally have her cast embrace on any non-tank member who takes damage, and I do this moments before I cast my own heal. This allows me to simultaneously heal 2 people at once, assuring no heal is wasted.

Finally, I use place and heel to avoid AOEs and/or deal with split groups. If the group spreads too much for me, I take a side and she takes a side. I pop rouse and pray she doesn't completely botch it lol

In relation to the topic, I want to ask what exactly Sic, Obey etc do. Unfortunately, the tool tip doesn't say what skills become disabled and so I'm hesitant about using them. ><

Sic orders the pet to attack with everything it's got. It will blow every cooldown it has as soon as it's available.
Obey orders the pet to attack, but only use it's 2 basic attacks. This leaves his other 2 cooldowns in your control.
Steady will force the pet to only use it's basic lvl 1 attack, nothing else. You have control over it's other 3 skills/attacks.

Be aware though, that once you order the pet to use one of it's attacks/abilities manually, it WILL revert back to Guard stance (aka 'Sic') and will once again blow all it's cooldowns as fast as it can.

EDIT : On my own SCH bar, I use : Sustain, Place, Heel, Rouse - Whispering Dawn, Embrace, Fey Illumination.
