Changing Tradecraft Levequest rewards

Sometimes when you do THE SAME levequest twice it gives a different reward. Does anyone know what causes the reward to change, and what you can do to force it to change?


**Specifically, I'm trying to get diremite webs from the "Don't Sash Me" levequest, but it only ever wants to give me lightning crystals. I've checked back at MANY different times, and completed levequests including that quest a couple of times and others a couple of times, but the "Don't Sash Me" reward has always been crystals

Yeah, there's a similar one (Handsy something for cotton dress gloves I think) at Quarrymill. First time diremite webs, then every day since lightning crystals (couple of minutes worth of mining to obtain, if even that). Possibly a RNG thing? 5% chance of decent reward?

Any insight into the mechanic behind this? Once I check the quests available and see the reward is it "SET" until something happens??? What are the things that can affect the reward chaning? When does the RNG die roll occur?

Possibly a one time only reward for first completion of that leve? That's the only common trend between the two situation above I can see. I've never paid too much attention to level rewards beyond how much xp they give so I can't provide anymore help than that

My first completion of "Don't Sash Me" in Ul'Dah, and subsequent completions did not give me webs, though others have said they have received that reward from that quest many times, but sometimes it changes...

I only recently got to level 25 on my combat class, and unlocked the levequests at Quarrymill. Both of the level 20 quests there ("The Telltale Tress" which is triple turn-in and...another one where you make Cotton Dress Gloves...) gave me Diremite Web as a reward. I repeated one and it gave the reward again, and I accepted it a third time, with the same reward. I didn't do the triple turn in because it was going to take more time than I had, but I should get the reward three times I have no idea why this reward was available there at that time, but not the Ul'Dah quests (which I had checked moments before).

I'm not that worried about these particular leves, but I want to understand what causes the rewards to cycle, and how to make it happen.

As far as i can tell, the leve rewards cycle when you complete a leve, for example you may have 3 options for leves but you pick and do just the one, when you come back the rewards from all of them have shuffled to something else on their rewards list (honestly i havn't tested anything else but this is what i've observed. if anyone has the actual specifics on anything else that causes leves to shuffle rewards please post it i'm very interested)

This is the behavior I've observed as well. My anecdote, last night while leveling carpentry I was trying to get the bow piece reward. Initially when I unlocked the lvl 45 leves it was the reward for the mahogony pattens leve. I didn't pick it up at the time, thinking it would still be there after I did my mahogony lumber leves. After completing 1 leve it wasn't there any longer and didn't reappear over the course of the 8 leves I did.I have a feeling certain rewards like that one in particular are just rare, meanwhile I got several shards and Rosewood Logs.

I'm going to try zoning and relogging to see if those cause leve rewards to cycle when I get home. Edit --logging or zoning does not shuffle the rewards.

It's been about a week of trying to get the reward at different times of day, after completing various leves, and other quests, etc, and whatever I've done has either not shuffled it, or shuffled it back to the same position. The "Don't Sash Me" leve in Ul'dah has NEVER offered me the Diremite Webs, while the two level 20 WVR leves at Quarrymill have ALWAYS given me Diremite Webs (completed each 3+ times over the course of a few days and have well over a hundred webs now). I'm glad I simply gave up on Ul'dah and went to Quarrymill, but I'm wondering what the mechanic is (I've continued to check Ul'dah - no change)...

If it's supposed to shuffle that doesn't seem to be happening, or I've had strange RNG. Is something broken? Is this WAI? Maybe it should just let you pick your reward??

Again, I intended Diremite as an example - because I suspect this may be an issue at all levels...

It could be that because you started doing the leves at Quarrymill, the Ul'dah ones arn't shuffling i did notice that the ones outside the level range at the place i was doing them (quarrymill at the time) weren't shuffling their rewards, i will admit i don't have a particulary large sample size yet to confirm if it will only shuffle the leves at the one are your at in its own level range but so far it appears to be the case

Actually I'm trippin, the items you turn in for these lvl45 tradecraft leves require shards xD. Some however don't give a positive material return for when they grant materials instead of shards, like the one weaver leve in mor dhona that has you make 3 woolen deerstalkers.
