    SCH Auto vs. Manual Faery

Hey guys, I recently started end-game with my SCH and of course noticed the giant difficulty curve.

My question to other SCH's is how do you control your faeries?

I use Place to put mine near the tank, this seems useful, apart from she cant top me up if I need it.

But she is of course still on auto.. I generally use Eos and she cycles through her buffs fine but I have noticed Selene tends to ignore the Melee buff in preference for the Mage buff even in a Melee heavy party.

So my question is, is there an advantage to learning how to control her manually.. I use a GamePad on my PC and unfortunately that means i am limited on buttons because switching through sets can get confusing. I have the cross HotBar plus 3 keyboard hotbars up.

I have heard you can keep her on Auto but manually control her heal cos she tends to wait till 80% before she casts.

Any input would be great to help a struggling SCH

Well, micro managing the fairy does have it's rewards yeah.

Personally, I place the fairy somewhere between the tank en ranged dps. I Always use Eos (not much point in using Selene at this point) and Always try to put her on Steady. This way she'll only use Embrace and saves her cooldowns for when you need them.

I have Rouse and Whispering Dawn next to each other, close to Succor. If I ever need to quickly heal the party, I just fire those 3 in quick succession. Apart from that, you can put Embrace on your hotbar too if you want and force Eos to keep casting it on the tank. But most of the time she does so by herself so haven't found the need to do so myself much.

Generally speaking, I have most of my own healing/single target skills mapped on the R2 crossbar, and most of the pet controls/AoE healing on the L2 crossbar. Works out pretty fine imho.

Oh nice she still uses Embrace on Steady? that changes everything! lol.. I had no idea.. I was like how is that useful to have her on Manual and lose her auto heals..

    Very helpful response thanks

Yep, on 'steady' she'll still heal using Embrace as usual, but won't cast any other spell. However, once you give her a manual command, she will revert back to guard stance and pretty much blow every cooldown she has. So be sure to put her back to Steady after making her use Whispering Dawn for example. Don't put her back to steady too soon either though, or you'll interrupt the Whispering Dawn command itself if she's still in the process of casting it. Makes sense, doesn't it? -_-

Yeah, did I mention the pet controls are horrendous? lol

I gave up trying to control the fairy at endgame. What Vhayne said above is the reason. On a fight like Titan HM, there is no time to sit and dick with your fairy, I have enough on my bar as it is and to have to control the fairy going back and forth between guard and steady at the exact right moment so she does not blow her whole load after she goes back to guard is just to much. I have found the AI on EOS to be pretty good so I just let her do her thing. The only time I use Selene is when we are doing CM seedruns. I just manually click the skill buff when it is available as she never casts it on her own. SE has a lot of work to do on pets. and some very pet unfriendly fights in this game, AV being one of them. They need to let your pet be cleansed when you eat the fruit.

I place my faerie then manually cast Embrace before each heal. I use selene 99% of the time, so I let her manually cast Glow and activate Light every other 30seconds.

I'm at coils and Faerie placement is a pretty big thing. There is no one way to play. sometimes she is on auto others such as titan Hm fights I use her on steady. a well placed Spell speed increase at the right moment can be the skill between life and death. You shouldn't have a problem with your faerie healing you if you place her by the tank. I leave my faerie at boss flanks all the time. she has the same healing range as me but the system needs tweaking while she is in range of a dying person she doesn't seem to notice their health if she is more than 18+ units away. She will however notice your health at the full distance. And she prioritizes you too.

Ah, really quick question. Is there anyway to hotkey the pet skills?

Since you can hotkey pet skills it would make sense to be able to make macros.

You might be able to macro "pet skill" + "time delay" + "steady" and use that instead. Never tried it, but would be a fun experiment for those home right now.

My suggestion for pet controls is to make all pet skills a toggle on and off. When toggled on it will auto cycle, when toggled off the skill will need to be manually controlled.

Would also be nice to have some aoe healing radius schematics. I am using those pretty much blind on their radius or like some small circle (maybe there is I just dont see it) that lets DPS know where to stand if they are a little spread out.

I agree with at least something to help us define the radius.

I've gotten around it by being in the middle of the combat, but doing that puts me more at risk than a whitemage would. I'm going to actually try to macro that pet skill though and see what happens

Edit:So macros don't work with pet skills and have changed the image to something fitting.
