Just finished the lvl 50 main story quests.

i mean wow, this game absolutely rocks. the cutscenes literally mop the floor with the cutscenes of any other mmo to date.

every other mmo (beside tsw) sacrificed much of the immersion and atmosphere by being a mmo, but definitely not this one.

i do not care if this game does not have enough content for the (probably even cutscene-skipping) no lifers. It will definitely have enough for me, since i enjoy the whole palette of content it offers.

I too am iffy on the cutscenes but I definitely appreciate the variety of content.

In fact, I only got to Brayflox in the main storyline before I just got so wrapped up in finishing the storyline for all the Crafting classes. They are great! And you get a fun "AF" tool at the end! How cool is that?

Then I got caught up in making millions of gil on the market right now which is completely out of control. 800 gil for a basket of Fleece!!! In 1.0 that would have been 8000 gil. 8k gil for one basket of fleece. Completely insane. Screw the storyline and endgame, I'm hitting the market hard while I can, so I can buy myself a mansion

yeah, the prices are crazy right now. makes me believe the buyers of the overpriced stuff all buy gil (atleast on new servers) and then get hacked and then get used as spam bots.

I found the story one of the strongest aspects of this game. However, the story between the major spoilers after Titan and the long build up to Garuda was the most excruciating and painful part. SE sure has a twisted sense of humour if they think I like being trolled from level 40 to 44.

In addition: Coerthas Central Highlands. Everyone I knew who first entered this map was absolutely taken away by how beautiful it was. Yet, after the story, they all left to Mor Dhona so glad to be out of that annoying arc.

There were way too many annoying busy-work quests between anything interesting happening.
Overall, the story gets a C+.
Judging just by the story up to Garuda would be a D-, for sure

Now that I think about it, there's a few parts in the story I felt could've been better. I still did enjoy it, but I agree with what you're saying. In fact these quests I find, and now looking back, had made pivotal parts of the story quite jarring and out of the blue. Combine these parts with poor build up and the delivery just makes these parts feel out of place, so much to say "wait, did that just happen?". This is great for affect, but I feel it doesn't quite work right when you go back to doing the same thing after the story dramatically shifts. Climactic parts should be felt in the buildup to the next, not completely thrown out of the window.

Case in point: CCH. That was more a filler than an episode of Naruto.

Apologies for being so vague. It's quite hard to critique a story when the game is still new, and not everyone has been through it yet.

I would still recommend the game though... the story post-Garuda actually becomes rather enjoyable
