    Weird, 360 gamepad user here. For me in mode a, left/right targets proper mode, confirm selects all. It took a bit of getting used to but I can target as needed and switch modes in an instant.

    left/right targeting works properly, but what i'm annoyed with is that i can target everything with select/confirm.
    i'm 100% sure that wasn't the case a few days ago.

    Nope, that's been the case since it changed. You just have to get used to using left/right as the primary select instead of confirm. It takes some getting used to but once you do it's a fantastic system.
