My roommate gets this all the time and is about to give up on the game. I have not had this error yet (cross fingers and looks for wood to knock on).
Strange thing is we run off the same wireless router same internet provider of course and similar set up comps (we are both gamers on our down time)....
Only difference we have is; he bought and downloaded the digital copy early access and all that good stuff and I have a physical copy purchased the day the game went live from GameStop (was not here for beta). He already wiped his puter thinking some of the beta files corrupted his download. He did a complete wipe and reinstalled fresh did everything they told him to on tech support and is still getting this error.
He can play a whole day never see the error and the next day get it every 5 minutes. He has talked to support after hours of waiting and nothing new that he has not done already. They said it was a fixed issue and it sounds like his ISP provider.....To call back with any further questions once he has checked it on his end.
Wait ….what.... yeah... I doubt it is our provider seeing how I have not had this problem. He tried to tell him this piece of info but was told to have a "nice day" and was sent a survey in his email… (I don’t think he gave them high marks on the survey, I could be wrong, but just a guess)
I am a healer and he is my tank. I hope they get this fixed soon so we can get back to leveling and he does not go back to rift on me.
only error I have had so far is the character stuck once issue and that cleared up soon as I reset my router...

What happens if he plays on your computer with his account? Or he uses your physical disc to install? My roommate gets this all the time and is about to give up on the game. I have not had this error yet (cross fingers and looks for wood to knock on).

.
I just played the game for 14 hours (well that's the time registered in process lasso) without a single crash. The list of crashes ( Control Panel\System and Security\Action Center\Problem Reports ) after Catalyst 13.9 was installed went from several times per day to once per day. I've never been disconnected other than on http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/t...-%28Sep.-19%29 , and I'm on the west coast. So it's not always SE's fault either.
As I've said in a few threads, not all reported problems symptoms are being caused by the same things. It's possible to have a completely stable connection, and it's possible to be on a congested node on the same ISP in the same city and have disconnection issues. I've seen at least a few people report in the thread at the top of the tech forum from my ISP having problems.
It's also possible that some of the disconnections are being caused by problematic WiFi Routers. One thread has shown three people with ASUS routers having a problem.
He can log on and play his acct from my pc with no problems..... We use a netgear n600 wireless dual band router and it is less than 3 months old ... other than that I have no idea what the problem can be or anything about how ISP works (military nurse not a tech) I just know I have had very very few problems and he has had a ton. What happens if he plays on your computer with his account? Or he uses your physical disc to install?

We are on a military base never having any problems with other games and he has never had a problem up till the last patch. He has spent countless hours just inline for customer support with the game to be told to reinstall ECT ECT and have a nice day... He is frustrated and I honestly can't blame him. I don't know if it is all same problem (never claimed it was) just posting what we are going through here.
