    Gladiator or paladin

Im thinking about staying as a gladiator rather then switching classes to pally, can anyone tell me the major differences between the two classes, I know that GLA gets an AOE attack at level 50 which is what I want. And does staying gladiator have any major disadvantage?

Well, it's not so much switching classes as it is adding the job of paladin to being a gladiator. A paladin is a gladiator with added benefits. Leveling up conjurer to at least 15 and doing the paladin quest means, as you level up, you're getting your class adds as a gladiator as well as your job adds as a paladin. The only difference is, all the new actions you get as gladiator come to you automatically as you level, whereas you have to do the paladin quests at 30, 35, 40, 45 and 50 to get your paladin actions. AND YOU WANT THOSE.

Edit: And it's not like you're forever locked into being a paladin if you finish the paladin quest at 30 to get that soul crystal. It's something you have to equip for the paladin stat boots to be added and to be able to earn the paladin actions in those quests. So, you can always unequip the paladin soul crystal and just be a regular old gladiator. But... why would you want to?

If you play a Paladin, you get access to all skills that Gladiator gets on leveling (Including the level 50 AoE attack you want), as well as 5 unique skills that only Paladin can get (Including a Defensive stance that reduces all damage taken by 20% and boosts aggro generation) in return for losing out 5 cross class skills. So the major disadvantages are 1. You don't get any Paladin Skills, 2. You don't get access to the massive stat boosts the Job provides, 3. 90% of all parties will resent you for not having the Paladin skills and stats, and 4, you can't get the best gear for your class unless you have Paladin.

There's no reason to not be a Paladin. When you are a Paladin, you are still a Gladiator. It just adds on to it. Any exp you earn as a Paladin is given to your Gladiator.

Is a Paladin a character for the end story?
Myself i have mainly been Gladiator and worked up all other classes up to around level 9 thus far.
Not even sure i want to remain tank- maybe become a lancer or DRG

what you gain by being a PLD:
    1. significant increases to your base stats such as Vit, Str etc
    2. special abilities only pld have access to, that are very beneficial to tanking
    3. the Artifact Armour from lvl45 onwards which are significant upgrades to your equipments

what you LOSE by being a PLD:
    1. at lvl50 and as a gld, you have access to 10 abilities from all other classes (selective ones pre-determined by the game design). at lvl50 and having pld soul crystal equipped, you only have access to 5 abilities from only 2 other classes

If you are solo-ing, it doesn't really matter what you do, and sometimes, having certain cross class abilities make it pretty interesting.
If, however, you are in a party - you are expected to tank, and you should have all the specialised skills being a pld has to offer. This applies to all classes in general.

    Basically.
Just like any other MMO, it's pretty much your advancement.
If you wanna tank better, gotta go to the 2nd part of your class, which is the job, Paladin.
It's the better version of the predecessor. Unless I am missing something, that's how I see
all these things to work lol.

I play warrior but it's basically the same thing. When I play in a dungeon, I use warrior set for best stats possible. When I do FATE party or quest, I use marauder for spirit bonding.

Well not sure know as multiple people have stated PLD is one of the most boring classes and you really do not have much in terms of actions
I think i will be going for the Lancer class
