This is as bad as Gear Swapping in XI, it is just going to end up forcing players to maintain and carry huge amount of equipment all the time and eventually we wont have room for actual drops. Its a bad Idea.

Don't get me wrong, I have no problem with NM and Quest loot having Restrictions on Rank, Class, and Job. It lets the Devs balance what stats and stuff they put on them.

But crafted gear in my opinion should always stay "Optimal" not Restricted.

I have to thank Square-Enix for the amazing job they have done recreating Final Fantasy XIV from Scratch. Especially the inclusion of Missing Genders which we petitioned for in good faith. This was proof to us players that the Developers are truly Sympathetic to our requests and that being honest and vocal can pay off with the amazing characters we have who are Female Roegadyn, Male Miqote, and Female Highlanders. Thank You SE, Thank You Community Team, Thank You Yoshi-P.

Then give us more inventory spaces and a categorized, customizable, tabbed inventory menu.

would need infinite inventory, 2 gear sets per job for different builds, with uh like lets say 11 jobs since someof the craftspeople can use similar stuff. thats a lot of space, just for gear, not even items/loot/crafting

No you wouldn't. 150 base inv spaces would be fine to start (with more spaces granted through quests similar to the gobby bag quests). Even different builds have overlapping gear, and most classes stick to only one general build anyway. Hardly anyone is going to rank all 11 jobs at varying ranks at the same time. If you do anyway, then you need to weigh the cost/benefit of your inv spaces, just like we all do now.

    This.

I've been shouting for this since forever. It makes so much sense. I currently gimp some of my classes because it's no good filling up my inventory with gear.

It would have to be capped or crafters would abuse it. I think 100 would be a good start. With all my classes I only use about 51 on gear right now, though I could increase it to 60 fairly easy.

It isn't just Inventory Space that concerns me. Its having to carry around 15 different sets of gear for each class I swap between on a regular basis. Yes sure, make the NM and Quest Drops restricted. I'll gladly wear a Class Specific Chest Piece that I got from a hard NM fight and wear with all my crafted gear. Then when I change class I should be able to still wear my crafted gear and change into a different body peice either that matched the crafted gear I'm already wearing or to put on a body piece locked to that class. Don't lock all gear up just the NM and Quest drops.

Not sure what you're trying to say here.

So be it. Give us as many inventory spaces as we need so that the average player can accommodate at least 5 classes at once and still have around 20-40 spaces free for item drops. Whether that's 150 or 200 or 250 or whatever, is up to the testers to figure out.

The point was that people will always ask for more whatever the space is.

I realize that with the current space it is hard to accommodate 5 classes with optimal gear but eventually when there is more content and accomplishment than grinding people will start to have a main class, meaning that you can optimize 1-2 classes and carry decent gear that "favors DOW" for example at the average rank of your lower DOW.
