* The sad thing is that FFXIV turned RDM into a turret, and people think that's what it's supposed to be. It's supposed to combine sword and magic into something more, not spend the bulk of gameplay spamming spells and jump into melee for only 3 GCDs before scurrying back to the back line like good little casters.

Gear does not have to as big of a factor as it used to be to have a successful mmo, you can have a balance .

but ivalice had jumping everyone would go crazy.Whenever I see Yoshida-san's art I wish this could been an MMO based on the world of Ivalice.
Why can't we just have gear that scales down if you use it out of level range?
I think they should have a separate inventory for gear or better yet when they skillset save feature comes also include gear into that. Basically what I mean is that every class would have a separate section for the gear for that class which would not be tied to inventory space. So when you changed class it would auto equip all your skills AND gear for that class without using any inventory space at all.

Yep. I've been asking for this since beta. My personal opinion on how this should be done is you can't wear an armor till you achieve a set Physical level or a rank in a class before you can wear any gear of that rank. So if you get r50 on one job you can wear the gear of that rank now for all classes. So you no matter what can not wear a ranked gear till you achieve that goal of that rank first on any class. it took the feeling of achievement for me on finally I can wear this cool looking, "good" stat gear by working for it by finally getting that rank, when all it takes is a r1 with money.

I want all gear rank restricted and class restricted it makes the game more unique, lazy played will obviously not support it due to lack of inventory space and the hassle of changing gear between jobs.
Depends which way you look at it really though, if they were to do this it means they take something away and people never like that, especially when they have grown accustomed to it.
I look at it as making the classes more unique and having something to work towards.
In pretty much any other MMO you look forward to ranking up and being able to try on the next new gear, in FFXIV you can buy it whenever you like so there isn't the same feeling on accomplishment.
I asked for this also, I can only hope that Yoshi-p saw My suggestion & ImageI think they should have a separate inventory for gear or better yet when they skillset save feature comes also include gear into that. It still requires carrying around large amount of equipment.
Even in FFXI when I played a single job dedictated, I hated carrying more equipment then I needed. I hated Gear Swapping. I'm a minimalist I'd rather have just what I need on me. Even if you seperated the equipment inventory from your normal items inventory it would still piss me off having so much equipment to carry around. I'd rather have the freedom to pick what I want and wear it.
With how I described the system lets say you get a Body Armor from an NM that you really like but its not part of a set. You can go and find and mix and match pieces of crafted gear to get a matching oufit set together for that Body Piece. Thats what I love about FFXIV. I don't like looking tacky, I'm very fashion oriented when it comes to how my characters look which is one of the reasons I hated WoW so much. The boots in that game make me want to vomit.
I have to thank Square-Enix for the amazing job they have done recreating Final Fantasy XIV from Scratch. Especially the inclusion of Missing Genders which we petitioned for in good faith. This was proof to us players that the Developers are truly Sympathetic to our requests and that being honest and vocal can pay off with the amazing characters we have who are Female Roegadyn, Male Miqote, and Female Highlanders. Thank You SE, Thank You Community Team, Thank You Yoshi-P.
