Why do people get so mad when you summon a Tank-type summon. People get so salty at you,and say switch it, and when you don't they say they will report you for griefing.

I found Titan-egi been very useful against Final Sting.
Because when you play an Arcanist/Summoner in most cases, not all, it is better to use a tank summon if doing things solo, but in group play there will already be a tank or two depending on party size. In most cases the extra DPS is needed more than the extra tank. This is assuming you used duty finder. In other words it's about balancing out the trinity more where necessary.
Therefor it is better for you to use a DPS pet when playing with others. A tank pet is more beneficial when you're solo since it can take some hate off of you, and better to have your own personal tank rather than DPS + DPS. There may be some special circumstances where this may not be the case, but in most it is. In a party there will already be a tank or tanks. I haven't advanced to a Summoner yet, but same concept for an Arcanist. I always use Emerald Carbuncle in group play, but pull out Topaz Carbuncle for solo.
There have been times where I was tempted to pull out my tank Carbuncle in a dungeon when we'd get paired up with a really bad tank, but I resisted to let him learn, and after a couple wipes (on an easy dungeon by the way) we cleared.
as a tank and causal player i honestly don't care, especially during times when there is a screw-up and 1 mob is left un-attended by accident, and it's much more desirable for the pet to tank it rather than for the magi to die.
HOWEVER, the above scenario is very rare... I don't recall many dungeons pre-Dzemael where the party is required to engage more than 4 mobs at the same time, and tanking 3 to 4 mobs is beyond easy if the tank understands the basic mechanics of enmity. Therefore, having the tank pet out, in most situations, means lower DPS and longer clear time. Do I care personally? I don't... But if you are partying with people who take the game more seriously than others, they may not find the 'inefficiency' palatable.
So I strongly suggest refraining from tanky pets unless it is absolutely necessary.
You're a DPS, not an off-tank. Would you enjoy it if I queued as a tank and stood in the back rows casting cure on your tank pet?
Actually, you probably would, scratch that.
