XLIII Mini Cannon in Castrum Meridianum

My character is unable to interact with the XLIII Mini Cannons in Castrum Meridianum. I am able to interact with all other elements including the searchlights, air cannons and missile loader, but when I try to activate the mini cannons I get no response. I don't know if it's a bug in the game or if I've missed a key part of the story that allows me to fire these cannons.

I had this issue as well. I am using a gamepad on PC and selecting the cannon gives me a new cross hotbar with just a "cannonfire" ability that does nothing.

You gotta select the area of the shot.

No way of selecting anything else appeared at any point. Other things that have required selecting an area had a AoE marker appear on the ground, unless this works differently than that there didn't seem to be a way to do anything.

interact with the cannon and a hotbar with just a red button will appear.
press that button and select the attack area.

I thought it didn't work for me either at first, but then I realised the Canon hotbar was hidden behind my 3rd hotbar. When you click that button, select the area you want to attack and tadaaaa....boom!
You can drag the extra hotbar up and problem fixed forever btw

Yes, I am saying there was no "select the attack area" thing. Using the cannonfire ability that appeared on the new hotbar did not seem to do anything.
