Make sure you're fighting the right-level mobs.
Make sure your gear is on-par with your level.
Make sure you've read your abilities, and understand how and when to use them.
Make sure you're not pulling 3-4 mobs at once.
If you're doing all of those things, and still getting destroyed, I really don't know what to say. I don't think it's even possible to fail if you follow those 4 steps, honestly.

I'm pretty sure I'm being trolled. And the I've played wow for 30 years just kinda convinced me. The game hasn't even been out 10 years XD
i must say Gear early game doesnt matter to much.
if you die all the time your doing prety much everything wrong.
i played Lancer in Beta with 300-400 ping and must say i never had problems other then when i pulled 3 or more mobs or trying on 5+ levels higher then me.
healing on lancer you can prety much just drop, but getting protect you should.
give you some more defence for soloing.
other then that i must agree with Raxion's post.
good gear, Fighting Right level mobs, dont pull groups and understand how to use your ability and you should have no problems fighting.

Because you need cure from conjurer and Bloodlust from Marauder...
Gear doesnt matter at all I wore Hyuur gear until level 10.

The fact that there are this many people taking the bait is insulting. The forums deserve a better class of troll.
I can't fathom how people fail so badly on mobs, the fact that I see raise requests (why do people even request raises? Is it because they're doing battlecraft leves, and don't want to fail? - I see no other reason to, and that reason is pretty terrible too, as battlecraft leves are the worst use you can get out of your leves).
Either way, playing drg:
Get bloodbath and fracture from marauder, second wind, featherfoot and internal release from pugilist.
Make sure you make use of your cooldowns. You have Life Surge, and Keen Flurry for a reason. Getting Second Wind (which scales with attack power) can help you, but generally you shouldn't have a problem killing one mob at a time (which is what you will be doing most of, if not all the time).
I think the main reason that people die when soloing in this game, if fighting the appropriate number and level of enemies, is because they can't dodge red circles.
So, the best advice I can give to everyone is: Sidestep cones. Interrupt or move out of circles. And while latency can be an issue, it's probably not the main problem you're failing it. It's about getting a feel for how the aoe acts in this game, and when you have to start dodging. I'm not denying that latency can be a problem, but I've yet to experience it as a serious problem - and I live in the EU.
In the beginning the Universe was created. This has made a lot of people very angry and been widely regarded as a bad move.

meaby becuse its cheaper and faster to get a raise then have to go back to the same zone if your home point isnt in the same zone
Thanks alot guys, i have finally figured out exactly how to kill those mobs and now im leveling up quite nicely
If anyone else has this problem see below:
First you click "Start" on your windows desktop screen.
And then you go to "Control panel"
Then under "programs" click "uninstall a program"
You then go through the list of items and find "Final fantasy: a realm reborn"
You right click and select "uninstall/change"
You and finally you just select Uninstall and "next" as it prompts you to.
Congratulations, you finally defeated the evil hotkeyspamicus XIV, (took me quite a while surprisingly, guy has a lot of health).
Anyways, laughs were had, low IQ was found, i bid you all adieu, as this will be the last time i post here, and the last time i will play Final fantasy XIV.
Note: I would consider all who took this thread seriously, to question your own comprehension and reading capabilities.
