Is there a way to get to Limsa Lominsa from Ul'dah before the level 15 airship/envoy mission? I managed to get to Ul'dah from Gridania on foot, but I don't think I can swim the rest of the way...

NOTE: This is for a level 10 alt Miner. I have several stacks of Copper and Tin, and I want to learn Blacksmithing sooner rather than later...

no.

if you didn't start in limsa, you'll need to wait until the envoy quest before you're able to get there.

I suppose if you get a class to level 30, you might be able to use the vesper bay ferry to get there, but I don't think they become active until you've completed the envoy mission

You have to go to Western Thanalan. I'm not sure where it is on the map, but I'm currently in Limsa Lominsa and right next to the Arcanist Guild is a anchor sign, so I'm assuming you can take a ferry to Limsa! c:

I haven't tried it myself since I have things to do here but when I do, I'll let you know if it worked! (if you haven't tried yourself)

yes, you can get to limsa from vesper bay
but i'm not sure if you have to unlock the airship pass beforehand

technically vesper bay is locked until 30, however, if you haven't done the envoy quest the ferry ticketer will tell you that 'the ferry is closed until futher notice'

once you get the airship pas, the dialogue changes to 'you must be level XX to ride the ferry'

Basically, you can't get to or from Limsa until you complete the Envoy quest. This was an issue in Phase 4 when the quest line was bugged in Limsa for some people, effectively trapping people there.

Er, no, I rode the ferry at 20, I have no idea when it unlocked so it may have been 15 when I got the airship.

they are correct, locked till you do the envoy mission. i did the same as you i wanted it early and had to wait till i did the main story quest. if you could have someone do those parts of the kill quests if its not forced solo stuff i dont see why you couldnt do it earlier if the quest was available to you.
