This may be in the wrong spot but I play on PS3 and don\\'t know how I would manage without at least a chat pad. Highly recommend getting one if you don\\'t have a keyboard. Found it for $20 on Amazon.

Pretty much goes without saying, I would think. Had a keyboard on the PS2 for FFXI (Got a Logitech NetPlay, anybody else remember those?) and have a Bluetooth keyboard for the PS3 and FFXIV. You need to be able to talk to people.
I got a cheap Keyboard at the BX for 10 bucks.
The chatpad works well enough to get across basic messages, but I finally just hooked a keyboard up to the PS3 (USB). It's so much simpler.
Dunno if this is known, but another tip I have concerns the constant disconnect from game server when playing on ps3. A lot of my friends confirmed, that they never have troubles playing online over wireless in any other game. When it comes to FFXIV however, they started using the wired connection. 6 out of 7 people confirmed once they used the ethernet cable (wired) they never got a DC again.
Figured, I'd let you all know, since it's a tips thread.
i play on ps3 also and i found me a controler with a keypad on it works pretty good
also if you can get mumble app (is on iphone and android) or oovoo.. great for voice chat...
specially if u tend to play with a set party..
