Need some new character Attribute help!

Hey guys. I just started playing FFXIV and created a new character. However, I noticed that the attributes are different from what is shown in race selection screen.

Eg. Mito'qe seeker. Supposed to have Str 21/ Dex 22/ Vit 20/ Int 18/ Mnd 19/ Pie 20

However, my new seeker (archer) only has Str 18/ Dex 23/ Vit 19/ Int 14/ Mnd 14/ Pie 16

Can someone explain abit? I searched on google and there's no explanation for the differences. I also tried creating new mito'qe lancer and arcanist and he has different sets of attributes.

Can it be due to the class? If so, what does the racial attributes shown during character creation mean then?

Character level so quickly until level 10 ish that I wouldn't worry about it too much. You'll be level 4 before ever questing outside Gridania.

I honestly haven't bothered to look at the beginning stats. If that is the case then it would definitely be because of the class you chose. Why there is a difference I have no idea, but I would assume then that each class gives an auto +/- on certain starting attributes. The best way to test that is just create another character with different starting attributes but of the same class and see if they are the same.
If they are still the same then the race attributes mean nothing, but if their slightly different then it's the class that gives additional(and minus) starting attributes.

If you can please tell me if you do it because now you have my slight curiosity

edit: as the man above me stated, starting attributes really aren't going to have any outstanding role to play for you once you start leveling up.

We can easily forgive a child who is afraid of the dark; the real tragedy of life is when men are afraid of the light.

Each race has different starting attributes. But when you equip a class, those attributes are revised based on the class. Because Archer uses Dex as its primary stat for determining damage, and it doesn't need much Intelligence, your stats will be revised when you switch to Archer so that you get a buff to Dex and fewer Int points. If you switch to Paladin, you'll get more points in Vitality, and fewer in Intelligence.

Highlander Hyurs generally have higher Strength and lower Dex than miquote. So a Highlander Hyur on any job will probably end up with slightly higher Str and lower Dex than a miquote on the same class.

Thank you guys for your replies.

I just created new hyur and mito'qe lancers to compare stats. It is as VydarrTyr had said. Race will determine the slight basic attributes difference. The class selected will alter the attributes distribution eg. more to physical or magic

The part I still don't get is why the basic total attribute points doesn't add up to what is shown in character creation screen (120 points in total).

Anyway, thanks again. It's bugging me but I'll try to ignore the little differences haha.
