    Possible Phishing Attempt

I think I see how some people are losing their accounts to RMT. I recently received an email from Square Support stating I had registered a new email address and that, by clicking the provided link, the request would be finalized. All very official looking, too. Shame, though, that the email wasn't sent to the address I have registered with my Square account. Following official links to check my account I didn't see a second email registered on it so it was pretty clear to me that someone tried phishing me. Not sure who, the reply address was very official looking.

I'm pretty wary when it comes to things I have an interest in but I can see some people being fooled by these emails. Just a heads up, if it looks official but says something you don't remember doing, then it's likely a phishing attempt and best ignore. Or better, reported... just need to figure out how to do that.

This is spot on. With all the new subscribers etc as well I can definitely see why so many people might see this as legit. Sucks bad for those that have fallen for it. I wish people would just stop buying the stuff so there wouldn't be a market. People wouldn't buy a car from a dealership that dealt in stolen cars but they don't give two shits about doing business with Chinese businesses that hack people's computers and steal their data and then turn around and sell the loot. Makes me sick.

Some might call it paranoia, but even when the email IS from the game's support team, on all the MMOs I've played I never click through the links in emails. Almost got my account stolen that way once. And now I always go through the official site.

Basic rule of thumb: if you receive an Email from SE, and the URL is not in the shorthand link style they use, or it claims you made changes to your account when you know this to be untrue, then the mail is most likely a phishing attempt.

funny thing is, i have 2 email address: 1 for gaming, and 1 for my casual/normal/regular email. any and all mmos i play i use my gaming email address. got a phishing email on my normal email. i was "WTF?!" so i just played along and replied back to them bastards and SOBs that they got the wrong email address. besides, i have a security token to my ffxv account. still, i wonder how these phishers got a hold of my normal-everyday email address o.O
