Enough negativity -- share your Duty Finder GLORY stories!

There's more than enough crap slung around about how awful Duty Finder is to some people, the horror stories of trolls that'll get matched with you and whatnot, and all of that. But what isn't shared nearly enough are the positive stories. The serendipity of a party being formed by DF and it being magical for one reason or another.

So, come on! I know there are others out there who have had great experiences and plenty of them, so speak up! I'm going to start it off.

Tonight, I did Garuda for the first time. Used DF to find my party, even though I'm in a huge FC. I like using the DF. Adds some mystery to what may happen. So sue me. Got into the fight, said it was my first time, and it seemed like it was for someone else as well. But I think at least one other person in there had done it before. I could be wrong. But I, at the very least, was new to it. Oh, yes, when the tank is new to a primal fight, hilarity ensues, doesn't it?

It took us over an hour to kill Garuda. We wiped something like 10 times. Each time we got past the point where we'd wipe previously, a new mechanic of hers knocked us right back down. Each of us made at least one stupid mistake at some point during the fight. All in all, it was a recipe for what normally would be some psycho screaming about noobs or others ragequitting because how dare a fight be learned on the go.

That didn't happen here. Not one of us got angry with another. Not even once. No one shouted, no one raged, no one expressed frustration other than at him or her self if we goofed and knew it. The only thing we kept doing and building on was mutual effort at figuring out the mechanics, talking each other through new suggestions as to how to position, how to stage the fight, etc. We worked together. And it was such an awesome experience to have. And, when we finally got her, I've never had so much ecstatic conversation with a party afterwards. It made me truly sad that none of them were from my World, because I would tank for them in a heartbeat, any day of the week.

They may never see this, but Leah Bajhiri, Kozn Kaos and Drake Lifna? You three were awesome to be matched up with. If any of you find yourselves partied with one of those three, you're in good company.

    Someone else can share now.

I did Haukke Manor for the first time yesterday. The tank did the first pull without marking, and didn't end up building enmity on all the mobs, so the healer got swarmed by a couple and died. It had all the hallmarks of one of those "and this was just the beginning" rage stories. But after the pull no-one threw a tantrum. We just chatted, sorted out the marking/sleeping and the rest of the run was really smooth and fun, bar an unfortunate wipe to a sneaky bomb on the final boss.

    Good times.

I had a few utterly amazing AK DF runs before they nerfed it - the type that goes so fast and clean that you usually only expect it from a static. DFing AK is so hit and miss, though. Sometimes you get a great group, other times just terrible.

I think one of my best DF experiences was in Longstop during Beta Phase 3. Everyone knew exactly what to do at a given time, and to amazing efficiency. The tank dodged every single breath - and remember, this was before they added the hitbox for it! The THM helped my CNJ sleep and the slept mobs weren't woken up a single time by our DD. I think during that entire run I never went below 95% MP outside of that first boss battle (which was before they weakened the boss to what it is at now, when it was very common for every healer to spam Ethers and Cure II and basically pray your DDs could finish it off before your MP ran out) and the few times I needed to Esuna on the final boss. It was incredible, a thing of beauty, really. It was like when you're showing off a game and telling someone "This is how it's meant to be played."

Nerfed? Oh! You mean when they removed the exploit you were using, got it!

I love the groups that don't give up after a few wipes. That was my SM Titan run. I believe only tank ran it before. But he was very patient with us getting pushed over the edge a lot and wiping lol. In the end (after about 6 wipes) we made it and it felt so rewarding.

I said that I would carry, and I did. LoL taught me well.

(I've only had positive DF experiences, but I've only done max the lv32 dungeon so far; crafting like mad)

    The good
Joined a Garuda Party couple days ago and we got the win first time, was a really solid party.

    The bad
Joined 3 Titan HM today and they were all a bunch of QQing babies (MPKing after the first wipe to get people to leave, general abuse etc), you win some you lose some I guess.

What's the point of mpking someone in a DF HM Primal? It's not like you can replace them. Did they just not want to take the 15 minute penalty, or what?

I've had several good DF runs during the first week, when many were still new to everything.
But the best one, was the Stone Vigil in progress I joined as Bard. I came in, and there were just another DPS there. I asked what happened, and he said he didnt know cause he had just joined aswell.

Shortly after a healer joined us, and only 5 mins went by before a tank showed up. We were now a full replacement group, for the previous original group. And with just 50 mins remaining, no bosses down and the tank and DPS were new to the dungeon, things werent looking very good.
I leveled my Bard from 41 to 44, purely from Stone Vigil runs, and I had been in many groups who never even reached the last boss. Heck, many had wiped several times on the first boss.

But we stomped it all. No wipes, 1 shotting all the bosses, everyone got loot. Too bad we were all on different servers. It was just such an awesome group.

Many might say, "Stone Vigil is easy!". Well yeah, it is, once you know it. But to new people, it can be surprisingly hard. And lag loves to troll at the last boss.
