I'm normally not the first to break morale by getting frustrated but as of late that's all I've been doing. It first started when I was farming Ifrit for the Cane, someone got hit by every AoE, they never listened at all, now I didn't scream at them in caps to stack, I calmly said that he needs to stack to avoid the damage.

He had end-game gear so I revived him continuously in hopes that he was just lagging, 9 times I raised him only for him to be hit by the next AoE. I was furious, I just wanted to leave and I can say if anyone else had died I probably would have because of him I was on 300MP for the rest of the fight. Now I realize we all have bad dungeons or whatever but that was beyond ridiculous. The Black Mage on our team abused him, now I felt really bad after that because he went AFK. Like the things said where harsh and if it was possible to blacklist people in dungeons that Black Mage would have gone on mine.

Now the Dragoons weapon came up, now I also roll greed on them, that way if I ever level another class I'll have it there. The Dragoon was still AFK, now at this point I really felt bad, Anyway everyone else must have pressed pass as I got the spear with 5 greed.
I waited for 5 mins for the Dragoon to come back but he was just AFK. I noted his name and he was on another server, I said sorry and left. -- But this is just the start.

I'm at Garuda now trying to get my Garuda's Wile; I see myself as a collector/hoarder. But this is where it gets me, without coming off as rude or immature all I get is bad tanks and people who generally don't know what to do. I just find myself giving up after one or two wipes because it's the same thing everytime. I mean Garuda isn't that hard, she has a pattern that you need to follow, much like Ifrit.

Dunno about you becoming elitist, I'd say more of your temper is shortening over time of dealing with idiots, now ifrit is easy, the only aoe that i generally got hit by for the first few times I did it would of been the full zone aoe apart from standing next to ifrit and that was because I was unsure of when it came up, garuda on the other hand is just a lil bit more harder to get used to and needs more explaining than ifrit, after a few times of doing garuda I dare say it should be something to get used to as well.

All I can say is if the party isn't bad but there's just the odd loose screw going off that happens to make you all die then just stick it out as that's what I do anyway, I like to think of my self as a perfectionist and when stupid deaths/wipes happen I just simply facepalm and try to carry on through it, just if you're working with a full group of total half wits that refuse to learn, listen and even type back to the party...then yeah by all means just leave.

I didn't know exactly what to call it. At this current point I'm at 27 tries of Garuda and not once have we got to the rotating tornado's bit. Whenever I try to explain it I get told to stfu and do my job.

I had a static group trying Garuda HM and without fail the other randomed people were absolutely terrible. I'm a forgiving person with a lot of patience as well, but so many failures in a row can get me down.

Finally beat it yesterday. Had my static group of 6, shouted for 2 more willing to use Vent, had tank voicing the teles/plumes/tornados/slipstreams and even though we still wiped a few times it was usually because of server lag of all things. A group of people I made friends with, even only so far as endgame, made it a whole lot better. There are other patient types out there, you just gotta find them. Even made LS called Elitists out of this exact irony lol.

Story time.

Hydra fight. Went in with a friendly PLD and BRD from my FC. Paired up with other folks in the zone, landed a second PLD in full Darklight + (didn't check his full spec, our PLD was happy with his gear/hp totals).

Despite the gear, despite knowing the fight, PLD2 had some kind of mineral deficiency in his diet that prevented him from avoiding White Breath. White Breath lands a debuff that renders incoming heals nearly worthless. Complicating matters was the fact that PLD2 wouldn't step away for 10 seconds to let the debuff wear down.

I made a macro so I could do /p PLD2 ate White Breath -- again <se.1>.

It didn't change his behavior, but I felt better every time I hit it. Hydra was won despite the badness on display.

I think there's a big difference between being elitist and simply knowing when to cut your losses. If you see people making the exact same mistakes time and time again without making any effort to correct them, it's better to save yourself the hassle (and repair bill) and try a different group.

Like the op I've become very shorttempered and I think I need to calm down a notch. Just last night I got so frustrated and was cussing over garuda hm which imo is fairy simple as i have cleared multiple times. However I forget sometimes there are other people who have never completed it. I hope my friends will forgive me :/
