It's very possible it could be the same world and personally I think that would be amazing lore. It doesn't make sense in terms of Bahamut though, or even Odin or Carbuncle.

I think those complaining are the ones who never got further than level 20 in XI and forever hate it because it was too hardcore, yet they play XIV and talk people down for not being hardcore enough. Happens all too much.

Square stated in the ultimania guide that FFX was supposed to be a prequel to FFVII, and those 2 games have 2 different Bahamuts, so that could put some sense to the primals and Bahamut/Carbuncle.

I remember hearing from somewhere that SE said all the final fantasy games where in the same universe The Fabula Nova Chystalis (sp) but. That all worlds were seperate unless they've already acknowledge a connection Ie: X and 7 and their subsequent games as well as the ones set in Ivalice.

I just don't get why they keep picking a one-trick comic relief NPC with a generic player model to represent XI when they have nearly 20 other great story NPCs to choose from.

I'm still mad she exists in Dissidia ahead of Zeid, Volker, Lion, Aldo, Trion, Ajido-Marujido, Gilgamesh, Prishe (prior to 012), Selh'teus, Aphmau, Luzaf, Lilisette, the Shadow Lord, Kam'lanaut, Eald'narche, Promathia, Lilith.... There are even a bunch of other NPCs with generic models but far more importance like Naja, Raubahn, or Tenzen. I mean really.

And Maat. If anything either Tenzen or Maat should be among those characters representative of XI, not Shantotto. She was just an extremely arrogant, annoying and super rude little shit, and was only involved in but a few sidequests and a couple of storyline quests in ToAU and WotG.

She was chosen because consistently year after year she was voted by FFXI players to be the number 1 fan favorite character so makes sense.

I'm not going to lie, having to fight Maat would have been damn cool. Especially if he job changed through all the jobs in XI and used the two hours.
