    a new job merchant required

    I noticed alot of people asking to improve the system, but I sensed this system is more likely need player dedicate their time in it, to do research on their own and try to find the best bargain, at least it was, now it's kinda stuck in the middle. What I think is you have to give people a better reason to actually spend time on it instead of leveling their job doing crafts and gathering. Players are asking for a simplified system because they don't care about the trading part but more focus on the production part for now. They only need a AH satisfy basic sell and buy function. For such a complicated trading system, it's too much for normal players to adapt, thus an introduction of merchant is required.

    Merchant could be just your retainter, when you walk in market ward, pick one retainer and make him/her a merchant, then you can control the char while your main char stay in market ward till you finish

    Merchants only have access to their own cities, they can only talk to npcs selling or buying stuff or check bazzar, but they have several special ability as

    1, can go across servers freely. 18 servers are like 18 planets on the same orbit, in a circle. Let's say a retainer in server Besaid, might take 2 days to move to Wutai but 18 days to Lindblum. the price of the merchandise might change alot during the time he gets there

    2, can affect npc price but not stock. you can push an item price to rocket high or dump an item price to history low, within the limit SE set up, but they will never be out of stock. Of course, other playes will use their retainers to find the best bargain across servers

    3, if possible introduce a investment system, which can upgrade facility like guild or own a facility in other servers kinda

    These concept are not new, I just think if you could make trading as much fun as other things, then players will dedicate time to actually follow your old plan, to actually find out the best bargain themselves, to be a winner in the market but not asking for a lame AH like system like old days.

    The idea is actually from a very good game from KOEI and I do know rmt are doing those but if you think about it, the problem is SE set a border there in ff11 and only rmts are willing to pay extra money, if everyone can cross server freely then rmt won't be able to make any profit on that. The reason I suggest this is I can see SE is trying to attract people on trading system this time because they try to make gathering and crafting job a real job and try to enhance the content by giving the trading system more details partly like a trading game, they even designed that bargain mini-game. And now it seems they stuck in the middle not sure whether they should come back or go forward, because they make money on those "AH" mules, so they definitely dont' want to come all the way back, but they seem lack of interest to push the idea further, thus I raised this post hope I could do a little push.

    So basically, all the bots can go to one server, where they can entirely dominate every aspect of the game, and get what they want when they want for, well, nothing, then pop on over from another server and pick up the gear/item/etc., switch back and flood the market of every other server with whatever they want...

    I appreciate what you are trying to do, however, this is a good place to point out that over-complicating the system breaks the system. It becomes impossible to balance and maintain. In short, K.I.S.S.

    I guess your point of view only prove the current system is bad because that's exactly what will happen, currently only rmts are able to cross servers because they see the fee paying for changing server as an investment and thus they can control the market the way you described. However if you let everyone has the right, quote from <the incredibles>, "When everyone is special, no one is" thus can solve the issue. The system is only complicated when you don't feel it fun. The battle system is way more complicated than trading system so the most important is whether SE could make it attractive enuf. There are online games based on trading system and nothing more.
    The way I see it, only rmts and SE are gonna have more troubles with my suggestions.

    Thank you for the information, I thought the server transfer option is still open like in ff11. What I try to say is the idea I raised would not cause rmt behaviour but bring more fun to the game. I try to limit it to retainer and within city to lessen the server burden, not like a real character transfer, SE only need to share the city across servers and some price lists. Retainer has level and character which would be even easier if SE want to add their own story and relative commercial ability in future. Accounting to reduce the tax; Driver could speed up transfer; Roegadyn could carry more inv; mi'qote could have better bargain with npc.

    Retainers can have their own title, ranks, combining with craftsman and gatherer could build ships and make fleet for retainers... that might be too much to ask.
