It gets pretty dull and boring not being able to listen to your music, and gets worse when the game's music gets glitched and stops looping. *silence*...
Sure I could play the game and separate the sound channel my music plays on, but viewers only /soothe
I don't know if you have noticed, streams (Twitch) have dropped a lot because they get boring when it gets too quiet/calm. I for one need some music that won't make me sleep to play a game.
Most successfull streaming channels / videos have custom music, as for other games they allow players to set music over the game's, I know Square Enix wants to let us show the game to the world, which will of course get sales, hence NDA and video restrictions were modified. I also understand that they don't want to give a wrong impression to the viewers with 3rd party content, however, the music restriction in my honest opinion is overboard. I don't know any other game that has such restriction; it would benefit the video makers as well as Square Enix to lift this restriction because of the next reasons:
For video makers:
- Adds the possibility to create different content appart of gameplay, for example Machinima.
- Most of the time players add music that motivates the player as well as the viewers to remain entertained.
- Video makers which do not follow copyright will get their videos blocked from YouTube and other video sharing websites. Which will not cause any problems with Square Enix, since the video maker takes responsibility for any infringement, not Square Enix.
- Will avoid sound issues such as in-game music loop stopping. Causing awkward silence.
For Square Enix:
- If the restriction is lifted Square Enix would get more and better community advertisement through new content/videos.
- Square Enix would not be affected by any copyright infringements.
- There would be less players worried to get banned because of adding music over the video, knowing the restriction is up. Letting them create more content freely.
So the question is, regarding the guidelines have there been any news related to this matter?
It would be nice to get a moderator to reply to this question as well as the community.
