We need police

With all these reports of RMT and cheating I think we need some active police in-game who patrol areas and can ban activity and squish it as soon as it is spotted. While i am playing and just going from area to area as a normal character would, I see many shouts and tells that I wish I could simply just ban the character right away as it is clearly RMT activity.

But I can't. I can just report and wait and wait.

But if we had a dozen or so characters on each server who periodically went from area to area, and they had the tools to ban characters who are spamming chat or sending /tells with advertisements, I think we'd see a lot less activity in players doing so. I mean it is so easy to recognize this activity and know which accounts they are coming from. I think this would be a quicker way to stop it from happening.

While i agree we need better options. I don't think SE could afford to pay people to do what you suggest.
I know there are many people out there who would do it for free, but it is too open for abuse.

The problem of a visible moderating presence is that would clue in RMT and other abusers as to when the STF is out in force, and lay low "until the heat dies down".

Not true, I've seen my reporting have an effect on my server, Not immediate, mind you, but there are characters getting removed for advertising RMT activities.

I'm willing to do it for free. I don't need to ban them. Just give me the possibility to shut them up until a GM can complete the investigation. And if I abused my power then you can punish me.
