    FFXIV improvement suggestions

I'd like to propose a few suggestions on what I think would help improve the game. Feel free to criticize and suggest an alternative approach rather than just "no this is bad!"

    1) An actual log in queue that counts down how many players ahead of you until you can log on.
    2) Markers on all maps for available/active quests within your level range of the job you're playing.
    3) Quest givers that offer quests that are available only for your higher level job are marked red and the quest can only be picked up when you switch job.
    4) Quest toggles in the journal to hide quests you don't want displaying in the tracker.
    5) Phased FATEs to avoid lag, overcrowding, and disappearing players/monsters.
    6) Time restrictions in /shout and /yell channels to prevent spamming.
    7) Zone name display under minimap.
    8) Spam filteration for multiple known tags such as "sell" "gil" "USD" "C0M" etc.
    9) "Remove offline/afk player" duty option after the player is inactive for more than 5 mins.

    10) Quests that are more than 5 levels below the job you're currently playing are marked silver but can still be accepted.

    1) Not really needed IMO
    2) This would generally only work once.
    3) Why should I have to switch jobs to pick up a quest? Should be able to do this on the fly.
    4) Yes
    5) While they need to do something about this, this is not the answer.
    6) Yes, among other things
    7) No real opinion on this one way or the other lol
    8) They would have to be very careful about this. The games profanity filter is already screwy.
    9) No, but they should include a voted kick feature.
    10) No, again I don't want to have to swap jobs to pick something up.[/QUOTE]

Well the whole idea about showing the location under the map is to aid players both on their journey and to avoid having to cancel a report ticket when filling in the field "Enter Zone Name" to bring up the map to find out where they are. :P

It seems right now the games profanity filter is only omitting swear words and words considered offensive in other languages, some are really obscure too. Spam filteration would be a separate thing to the profanity filters. The one used in FFXI works quite well in reducing much of the RMT spam, as does the ones used by Blizzard and Bioware as they search for key words like "com" "C0M" "buy" "sell" "gil" "gold" "www" "USD" known site addresses etc. Each of the words has a score to it, so if they appear in a single sentence and the score is pretty high then the message is filtered out and nobody gets to hear it.

    10) doesn't require you to change job, you'd still see and be able to pick up the quest but you'd know it was a low level one.

    Here are my improvement suggestions:

    1) Group-only leveling. No more soloing. This is an MMO, not a self-contained console game.
    2) Removal of Fates. Too much going on there, fates are basically a slide show light show. Can't see what anyone is doing much less the mobs being attacked due to all the skill animations.
    3) Intricate teamwork combat mechanics: Need something similar to FFXI's Skill chains, Renkei, Trick attack, and Magic Bursts. Also, add elemental strengths and weaknesses to mobs. I shouldn't be able to deal fire damage to a fire elemental... Also, strengths and weaknesses should be closer to something like +/-35% damage, not something negligible like +/- 10%.

Improvement suggestions cont. due to 1000 character limit:

    4) Slow the game down by about x2-x3. Weapon skills and BLM spells happen too fast. Need something more like FFXI BLM spells that had a good 2-3 second animation, not this .5 second crap we currently have.
    5) Give PC gamers the original textures from v 1.0 where possible. No idea why the graphics were reduced, but a lot of the enemy and environment textures just look unfinished compared to v 1.0.
    6) Redesign SMN pets to be more in line with the appearance of FFXI avatars. The artwork for the FFXI avatars were far more impressive and inspiring.
    7) Enable gamers to chose from v 1.0 music or FFXI music while playing the game, complete with options to attach music to specific areas. The current ARR music is awful. While v 1.0 wasn't the best, Limsa Lominsa, for instance, had better music in v 1.0 that was is currently in place. FFXI music would be even better, but I'll take what I can get.
