    Question about gearing up for Titan hm

    So i have a person in my FC who is a scholar with lvl 39 accessories and only darklight pants. We are taking on titan hm and we arent quite making it past the heart. I know your supposed to gear up for it but he switches out gear and tests it and says that the 4 mind he would get per accessory or upgrades would only raise his healing by about 10 per heal. If thats true that really doesnt seem like much for working days on trying to get him geared up. Are his numbers wrong or is there more to it than just that?

    I remember doing around 550-600 heals when I reached 50.
    Today, I heal on avarage 900. those 10s adds up.

    (not fully accurate numbers used for this math, since its only to simply show the path of upgrades)
    I believe he would heal around 700 now, no?
    10+ more heal is an 1.4% increase healing.
    2 ring, neck, wrist and earring. that would add up to 50 more healing.
    an increase of 7.1%

    Now, if Titan takes 6 minutes to kill, that would mean he could casts 144 heals.
    Now of course, he will be running around and other stuff, but maybe close to 100 heals.
    700 x 100 = 70,000 HP healed during the fight, if you only singleheal, an no crits.
    750 x 100 = 75,000 HP healed. a tanks whole HP more.
    If you get full DL, with Ifrit or Garuda weapon, you should heal around 840-880.
    Thats 84,000 and 88,000 HP healed.
    with the 880 heal, thats 25% more healing than the former 700!
    With that, he/she will get more piety, meaning more mana. more spellspeed, getting the heals out faster, meaning he can maybe do 110 heals during the fight, meaning 96,800 healing. 38.2% increase from the 70,000 total!

    Overall, it will be so much easier keeping people at full health!
    Also, one mind/determination is worth a lot more, the more magic damage your weapon have!

    Just remember, 10 is a lot in this game!


    Edit: Just realized he is a scholar, so his pet also get stronger!
    Every single extra heal he gets, will make it easier to heal you up. Becuase after the Heart Phase, is when the boss will start doing damage to the tank for real. I am talking about that you can go from 100% health to 10% health in a second! So even being a scholar, that extra mana helps, since he will want to use Adlo quite often to help healing you up, and use Lusterate to heal you in panic situations, instead of replenishing mana!

    One of the reasons (at least from what I hear) for getting better gear for Titan HM is also so that you can get enough Vitality to reliably survive all the AoE damage being dealt during the last phase.

    His AoE attack, Tumult, does around 600-700 damage each stomp.
    at the start, he does only 2 stomps, really easy, but Tumult is Titans Soft-enrage. Meaning that he will only do more and more stomps each time, making it harder and harder to heal the group, and to survive.
    Imagine Titan is around 20% health. At this point, he will maybe do 6 stomps. Saying each stomp is 650 damage, that is 3900 damage taken to the whole party. Directly after, he autohits the tank for 1400 damage, followed by his rockthing attack that hits the tank for 4000 damage (damage varies depending on WAR/PLD tank, and gear).
    I was happy for every 1 more healing I could do.

    Thanks for the great response there sodamachine. Yeah i see how the upgrades will make a huge difference. I will show him what you posted and see if he's willing to upgrade then otherwise not sure how this will go lol. Titan is quite a beast to kill.

    You're welcome! I could also as a fellow Scholar, advice him of rotating Eye for an Eye, Virus, and atleast one Bubble during Phase 3 (after heart is broken).
    The numbers they provide with, doesnt sound that much, and they maybe doesnt last long, but the tank felt around 30% easier to heal when I used them constantly during phase 3.
    The 10% damage reduction from the bubble will over time reduce more damage than one lusterate will heal for instance!

    You as a tank also have to rotate your cooldowns in a really good way in order to reduce the damage you take. And you and the healer have to get a feel for when the burst damage will come, so the healer will have you topped during that period, preferibly have a Aldo shield on you, and you or the Scholar have a CD on in order to reduce the damage the burst will do.
    It will take a couple of tries in Phase 3 to get used to, and some co-ordinations, but it will pay of, and make it a hell of a lot more easier for the healer!

    Better get used to it. the next boss, which is in Coil of Bahamut, Turn 1, can burst the tank just as hard, except that he splits into 2, so 2 tanks take that damage
