    When? (Materia Question)

When should I start working about putting materia into my gear. I am level 32 right now and I have had no problems on anything yet. Seems like a nice boost, but then again why put in the effort just to replace the gear?

Should I do it now, or just wait until I have some end game gear.

You should do it now if you are able to, like for example if you Spiritbond your current gear before replacing it. Even if you don't need it they are noticeable boosts so there's no reason not to as it will just make you faster/more efficient.

It just doesn't impact you negatively so why not do it? Just don't worry about going out of your way for it unless you manage to get a piece of HQ gear that can last a bit longer.

How does one go about finding people to meld your materia for you? Do you really have to spam the chat until you get a hit...or is there some kind of quick connect option in the game for this. I am on ps3 and typing is a pain...not as if I could overpower the goldsellers anyways.

Try going to the guild of whatever craft you need to meld for you. There will always be people there working away. You can click on any player and "request meld." I've heard some people find it rude if you don't send them a tell first, but I wouldn't mind at all if someone approached me that way while I was crafting. But definitely tip if you're going this route so you don't come off as a douche!

The best advice I can give you though is to get a wireless keyboard for your PS3. Communication is key in MMO's and trying to use the built in PS3 kb is utterly useless in a crunch. I know, I play on PS3 too.

Just plug in the USB keyboard (or use bluetooth one) - any cheap one you can get or already have will do, it's really not ideal to play without one ...

As a caster main, I'm trying to keep my weaving about equal with my conjurer. Your best bet, in my opinion only, is to become a materia melder yourself. That involves not just crafting to be at high levels, but gathering too so you can support the crafting jobs with crystals and catalysts for melding.

As stated above, there's no negative to putting materia into early gear. You can just convert the materia-laden gear into the new gear, and equipment spiritbonds so quickly that you may even find yourself with more materia than you know what to do with. Of course, this is the anti-immediate gratification method or method for those claiming they're going to die in a few days (i.e. short on time), so take it with a grain of salt.
