In the latest interview with him, he says his character is only 19 or so. He didn't have much time to play so maybe that's why he doesn't notice Vanity Slots as a big thing. If he was at a higher level and actually got there himself, he'll notice more problems along the way and hopefully address them properly.

Yeah I saw. I hope he realize just how important vanity slots are and we don't want to wait 3 + more months for it! Signatures are now updated!

If you're not a tank, you won't be able to wear tank equips. Yoshida explained how vanity slots will work for the most part. You're limited to certain gears if you're a certain class.
