can anyone tell me wheres the best place to start farming tomes as a level 46 character.I would like to be able to start now if i can for when i hit level 50.

No. There are two types of tomes: Philosophy and Mythology. Philosophy is easy to get and is the kind that drops pre-50. Mythology is the difficult one to obtain, and the one that is capped per week. For reference, AK aside, Hard Mode Ifrit (which requires you to have finished the main storyline) drops 4 Mythology tomes per run.

But to answer OP's question: It's not really worth spending any time on until you're 50.

Stone Vigil is the first dungeon in which tomes of philosophy drop, but you get only a few per run. The final boss provides 10, but the other bosses drop them at least. Stone Vigil is also extremely straightforward and easy, with decent chests providing things crafters can use to make decent highquality gear for crafters and battle classes alike. They sell well when made into the quality items. If you want "easy farming" experience, doing SV a LOT will be useful. It might be best to level up there so all your time is spent pushing for tomestone credit, then shifting to Dzemael if you can get past people ditching when they can't get their Harlequin or Coliseum pieces that only come from the first boss (the last boss is a little tricky, so you may want to skip beyond the necessary quest completion). SV, otherwise, is good until you can get to brainlessly running Castrum over and over and over and over again.

Darkhold is best at that level. It's fast and easy with a good group.
