Eh, if they nerfed fate grinding I definitely wouldn't sub. Grinding monsters and occasionally leve's is really not interesting for leveling other characters. The game already has so many flaws that if they screw it up any more, it's gonna break and drop down to SWTOR levels.
I hope so. I'm a little too late to inb4 people threaten to quit, but I think this would be fine.
People are going to come in here and complain even though this isn't even confirmed and there
is nothing stating how much of a nerf. Could be a 5% exp loss which isn't a lot. Could be
50%.
Nerfing FATEs wouldn't bother me at all, personally.
Dungeons have bad exp scaling. At level 15 they're good for exp but terrible at level 30+
500 exp per mob (with the 50% armory bonus) doesn't work when you need 200k exp to level up.
I do agree with dungeon exp. However, people have actually been doing old school FFXI mob grinding PTs
killing mobs 5 levels higher. Chaining for insane amounts of exp. There are other ways, people just choose
the lazy path of FATE. I do believe there was actually a post on the forums somewhere about how chaining
mobs actually nets you more exp/hour than FATEs if done right. But you actually have to pay attention
and not just spam AOE, that's the problem. People don't want to do that.
*Inb4 that's how I get seals.
That's understandable, I'm talking about the people FATE spamming for exp purposes only.
The world isn't really big enough for that to be a good option to be fair, unfortunately. If that really caught on it'd turn into a big messy zerg around a few maps option as well.
I'd like to see a reduction in fate exp and an increase in dungeon/leve exp
but you can do fates for exp grinding too. there are fates all around that have a kill the boss only bar meaning if you just leave it alone and go after the normal monsters you have a infinite spawn of monsters then when you get close to over just destroy the boss for the fate exp and seals. lazy lawrence has this kind of mechanics course the monsters have very high hp and are prolly not worth killing, but i have seen other ones in just about every map.
If they decrease FATE experience, they will need to increase experience from other sources.
If they do significantly nerf fate xp, then they need to boost the xp you get from dungeons.
Also, as others have said, if a group of 8 people chain grinding is better xp than fates, then suppose we take the say 100 people that chase fates in Northern Thanalan, divide them into about 12 groups of 8, and give each group a chunk of zone space where a sufficient number of mobs exists, and respawns at a fast enough rate to make chain grinding worthwhile... we would run out of room.
The zones cannot support 100-200 people, in groups of 8, farming regular mobs, the mob density is too low, as is the respawn rate. So groups would spread out over larger areas, and eventually start overlapping and fighting for spawns... at that point fates are better again.
So, that leaves dungeons.
