They dont have burst damage so for certain fight AK first bosses mini golems and 2nd boss flies having on feels painful since it's much harder to drop the adds fast like u need to. If you have s bad smn or bad tank that forces a smn to only dot one mob at a time their dps on trash can be bad too. Their dps is fine on large single target when their dots have time to tick through.

Some SMN seems to have a problem with using Bane. It spreads your dots to others mobs in an area. But many SMN don't even use it. I've seen it when I play other jobs and in AK or Wandered Palace and we have a smn in the group and they don't use it. They are only hurting their dmg output and at the same time making those who are main SMN look bad.

Summoners have the highest DPS in the game. The reason people hate summoners was because of the initial parser results which showed them to be the lowest DPS but it didn't calculate the DoTs correctly. Now parsers are working and summoners are finally concluded as highest DPS output out of all classes. Problem is...first impressions last and so a lot of ignorant idiots out there still think summoners are low DPS.

Ignore them. That's all you can do.

Summoners are highly sought after in good groups. They may even be more sought after than bards since they currently do 30-50% more DPS than any other DPS class.

You sir, don't know how to play SMN. Just go play something else... maybe DRG, or MNK might suit your play style better.

I don't which is why I am learning. I always apply DOT's, use bane/shadowflare/Miasma 2 when necessary. While I am waiting for cool downs I use ruin and apply rouse/sustain/spur.

I also I have a Dragoon. However I like summoner more. I am still trying to level up my black mage to get swiftcast.

It sorta feels like the SMN players here are just as bad as those that quit. All I keep seeing is "I'm great. SMN isn't bad, all of the other players are." I feel that it is a weaker class. It may have decent dps but it requires more work to get the dps rolling and other times you can't get it at all or at least not very effectively. Besides that you also have to control your pet or let the AI freak out which makes this class even harder.

I don't agree with people for leaving because of one but I'm not so biased towards my SMN to not see its shortcomings. It is (to a lesser degree) like the elementalist from GW2. It takes more skill to be good with it and that makes it a worse class overall because if you have to choose between consistent level of play from DRG or inconsistent skill level from SMN then a wise choice is to take the consistency. Again, I don't think that should be reason enough to be ***holes but I do see the point trying to be made.

And nobody likes to use bane because it sucks. It has the range of my pinky finger.

P.S. HamHam, you are no better than the people discussed in this thread when you make comments like your first one. "You aren't perfect? You find something difficult? My class is too good for you, go somewhere else."

I think currently the reason people don't want smn is because they are considered one of the lowest dps. Also, there are a lot of bad smns out there who let their pets die mid-fight which also reduces their dps significantly on a parse. At the end of the day elitests want the highest dps classes which are currently bard and black mage with lancer trailing slightly behind. From my experience, monk seems to get the same treatment as smn does in a lot of cases.

DoTs don't show up on parsers.
Summoners have a variety of DoTs.
Monks have DoTs as well.
Basically, meterwhores ruin yet another game.

I run Ak as smn with a pld another smn and sch. We have no problem putting down the wall. We just ignore the bees and slap down the wall..... no need to use LB even. We usually clear it in about 40 mins. The only set up we run thats faster is same set up but replace smns wth bards.

Oh look, friend. I'm not here to discuss that I'm better than anyone else. However, I will not going to stand by when people say SMN aren't good. When we know they are one of the highest DPS jobs in the game right now.

You want to bring a perspective about SMN, but from what I see you just became a SMN, so please play out the job and then come back and comment about whether it sucks or it's great.

Now, I don't appreciate when someone put words in my mouth, or misinterpret what I meant or not meant. At what moment did I say I'm better than anyone? I merely pointed out what I have experienced so far with SMN. Not my fault you didn't like it.
