You should make an effort to read up on the fights online before you go in. It takes all of 2 minutes and it's inconsiderate to go in with no knowledge of a fight. Sure if you have questions people should answer them and help out where they can. But not familiarizing yourself with the dungeon bosses before hand is just selfish and lazy. There are more people in the group than just you and being prepared when you're new will get you much more respect. If you put in a bit of work beforehand, people are far more willing to help out. But if you do nothing at all, why should we? Give and take - you can't expect other people to do all the work for you.

So you are willing to wipe yourself and waste 5-10 minutes because you refuse to take 1 minute explain a boss to a newbie because you feel he should go on the internet and do research for every boss in every dungeon before playing the game? Who exactly are you "teaching a lesson" to doing that anyway?

I always watch videos of the boss fights in dungeons I'm about to queue for. I always explain that I am new the the dungeon, but have watched a video so I have a basic idea of what's going on.

That said, watching a video or reading a posted strat is far from actually doing it, and I appreciate when someone takes a minute or two to explain nuances or a brief summary that might not be entirely clear by just watching a video or reading a post. Not every dungeon has a step by step guide illustrating what to do, not to mention after watching several encounters in one go, information tends to get muddled or lost among all the bosses and their skills I just soaked in.

It definitely works both ways, but in regards to OP's experiences with people leaving after one attempt, it's not always about being unprepared. It's about not being an impatient child and understanding that the game, and a lot of the players are still new.

I find people being arrogant pricks just because they feel above wanting to spend a minute to explain, are just as bad as people coming in and saying "lol wat do I go guys? lol", if not worse.

Note: I'm going off the OP's experiences. I'm glad that you are considerate enough to help out those that do try.

I don't believe in this at all and never will. If your FC is raiding and requires it, thats on them, but when I see one or more players are new I do my little schpiel for every fight. I go into detail and use humor, all the DPS I have trained come out champs by the end. I have never once run out of time on any run and I use DF exclusively.

If I'm new, I say so and let others explain it. Being the tank, I have the benefit of DPS who don't want to wait another long queue so they bear with it.

This. I don't expect anyone to come into any dungeon prepared for it the way I want them to be (lucky for them, I don't have any personal "requirements" for how I want people to be prepared for a dungeon, even if it's their first time at it). If people know it, great. If people don't, then I show them I'm the furthest from an angry tank they'll get and start talking with humor about any major issues to keep an eye out for. I don't go into detail unless asked for it because I also don't assume that every new player to a dungeon wants their run gift-wrapped for them. Call me crazy, but for me, the worst way I can think of for random players to match up together is to have expectations that they all magically conform to exactly how I think they should play, and then look down on them if they don't. That's just silly.
