Racing Sub-Game? I Don't Get It

They have confirmed that Chocobo Breeding would be added to the game. Since Chocobo Breeding was a necessity for High Level Chocobo Racing in Final Fantasy VII we can look forward to the Gold Saucer's Return probably having these Chocobo Races as well.

The way to get to a destination sooner than someone else going the same speed is to get there in less steps. Optimize your route, and you will win. No extra physics or other craziness needed.
