Intel HD 4000 Series - Help!

My wife is considering buying an HP SplitX2 laptop from Best Buy an it has an Intel HD 4000 Integrated Graphics Card, 4GB Ram, 1.4Ghz i3 Core CPU, and a 128Gb Solid State HDD.

Will this be capable of running FFXIV:ARR? And if so, will it play it comfortably for her? What kind of FPS can I expect?

Any answers would be great appreciated. She's just shopping on a budget and we already have a gaming rig at home. This is for her to play on her breaks at school. Thanks.

Intel HDs are integrated graphics and will not run the game and if it does well not do it well, you will need a dedicated graphics card to play XIV

No, the HD 4000 is only half as capable as the minimum requirements of a Radeon HD 4770, it absolutely will not get even 30fps.

Onboard video is never sufficient for MMORPG's, particularly when it's in a laptop. Usually HD3000/HD4000/HD4600 video is sufficient for web-browser games and anything that was produced 8 years ago.

Look for laptops with a AMD 7730M or nVidia Geforce 650M if you want to play games, as these meet the minimum requirements. You may want to look at laptops with the AMD A8 or A10 parts (for even if these have onboard video, it will be sufficient if it's the "dual video" chip model)

Thank you. Not only did you answer the question but you told me what to look for. I appreciate that VERY much.

Using medium settings at 720, the HD4000 scores 2136. Source: http://youtu.be/Q7am5CfPBRs

You can also load the benchmark onto a usb stick and test it out on laptops at the store since it is not an install. If you are that tight on the laptop budget, it would be a desperate measure, but I wouldn't recommend it.
