Like the reason why ffxi had the rank mission was we were new recruits to those cities, pretty much soldiers.

The problem here is *you* don't understand it, in fact from most of your arguments across the boards on everything FFXIV you will stand by FFXIV in everything. The game has too many problems to count and lore is your answer to everything it seems. If the "lore" says that we're in a state of "cold war" as you called it, then I wish they would've released the game when it was all out WWIII to be honest with you. I don't give a rats what the lore says, the lore can be changed and it should be if its what is dictating how lame the main features of the game are.
