I understand it is frustrating when you get someone undergeared, but this is getting ridiculous. Just so you all know, I have successfully tanked hardmode garuda and chimera in AF1 gear. Yet there are times when I get into groups for these, and even speed runs for CM where I am kicked before we even try just because I'm not wearing blacklight.

I'm not disputing that blacklight gear is better, but AF1 is more than enough for anything up to Garuda, a really good group could probably do titan in af1 too.

I'm no elitist, I'm far from it actually. Up to Garuda in AF1, sure I'll give that to yah, although it will be rather taxing on your healers.
As for Titan, if your coming in with AF1 please gear up first. Its not a lot to ask that people prepare themselves.

I'm fine with people playing in all manners of gear, I know not everyone is lucky with the gear grind and I can relate to that. Skill overcomes gear anyway.
However there are some situations with very clear DPS checks such as AK where at least a good weapon is highly recommended. I often see dps go in with white weapons and its just not suitable I'm sorry.

A group on Reddit did Titan in FULL artifact armor, actually. He's right. That said, those people were insanely skilled and dedicated, and knew the fight so well that nobody got hit by aoe a single time thorough the entire fight other than those you can't avoid (Geo Crush, Tumult, etc).

I highly doubt this. Your healers would have like 2800 HP.

Or you could just get 7 Miners and 1 Paladin and just chip away at him with your pickaxes. That'd show em...

You can endlessly heal through tumult, when you play properly you'll be on full health before it hits and 2.8k is plenty of room for medica and succor to keep everyone up.

I agree with this 1000%. There was a guild in WoW that would do raids in blue gear, when majority of the population wanted high ilvl purple.

Most people want it to be easy with minimimal challanges. Unless a player is not pulling their weight then yes go get geared up.

This is common for a lot of the games out there. I just started playing this game, so I can't comment how bad this one is versus other games; however, I do know that in most cases the restrictions placed on the tank's gear is not placed on the DPS or even the healer in a lot of cases. It's common for people to point to the tank's gear, tank's skill or healer's skill. People have a hard time excepting personal responsibility.

That being said, there are going to be gear requirements for the harder content. Everyone should get the appropriate gear before attempting harder raids/dungeons. This goes for all classes, not just the tank.

If you want to run harder content with barely the minimum gear or less, it should be done with your Guild/Friends. Don't externalize the time to get better gear to random players by trying to skip getting the correct gear.
