    Mana Regen Rotation as BLM

After I go through my rotation and have run out of mana, I normally use that time to Transpose > Blizzard > Thunder II then go back to fire with a buffed or non-buffed fire3.

I put a blizzard in there to make sure I return to full mana during my fire 3 cast (just hit 44..so now this might change with instant fire 3)..

My question is..I see a few people saying simply Blizzard 3 for full regen during a thunder 2.

Would everyone mind sharing their thoughts on how they regen their mana during the ice phase of their rotation?

When you have Blizzard 3 you don't need Transpose. You can go from Astral III to Umbral III just by using Blizzard 3. This starts you at three stacks of Umbral, giving you max regen. I'm only 42, but If I cast Blizzard 3 into a Thunder spell, I go straight back to Fire 3 as my mana will have fully regened by the time it goes off.

EDIT: I shouldn't say you don't need Transpose, but for general use in your rotation, Transpose becomes very situational. I most often use it after killing a pack of trash if I'm not in Umbral to make sure I have full mana for the next fight. It also has uses in case you somehow end up in Astral with no mana to cast Blizzard III, but hopefully you don't do that.

EDIT 2: I'd like to say something else. From my understanding, you shouldn't "run out of mana" during your fire phase. You should cast until you can no longer cast Fire and still have mana for a reduced cost Blizzard III and Thunder X (X being whichever you intend to cast). This means that you should a.) calculate what a reduced cost Blizzard III + Thunder X would cost then b.) add a full cost Fire to that amount. Once you have that amount, every time you are going to cast Fire, you should check your MP. If your MP is less than that amount, you should not cast Fire and instead go to Blizzard III. Someone correct me if I'm wrong on this. I'm no expert.

Actually, I feel the easiest optimal rotation would be something like : fire 3 > fire phase until 600-900 hp > blizzard 3 > thunder 3 > fire 3

I use Transpose only when i just used Flare, along with convert, to have a bit of mana back to heal myself or just fasten the mp regen.

so yeah, don't use transpose in your main rotation. it becomes a tool at higher level used on only specific time.

So according to you guys, dps-wise, its much better to go from low mana fire phase into ice by going blizzard > thunder rather than transpose > blizzard > thunder?

    Thanks for the help!

There's still a lot of debate about the use of thunder spells. Personally I use Thunder 1 in my rotation, since I spam through my rotation so fast that it's usually just worn off by the time I cast it again and Fire 3 usually goes off just as my MP has regened to full. Some people perfer the Tier 2 version, but I think most agree Thunder 3 just takes too long to cast and a lot of the time you'll be overwriting the same spell when it still has a good amount of time on it.

Yea you definitely don't want to be doing 3. I do 2 because it usually fits my rotation perfect but I've been thinking about trying 1 to see how it feels.
