Atm it doesn't matter if a chest is being guarded, a tank can open everythign to the first boss and just die and leave. That is what needs to be fixed. Or they need to make all the chests with gear in them spawn after the first boss.

When this happens the tank has only 2 choices. Go afk and wait for the person to leave, or purposely let that character die a million times
I was the tank. Kim was the healer.
This is the whole reason I've been pushing for same-server-only matching function (in addition to cross server default) since beta. But Yohi-P had been adamant that all he wants is efficiency of forming a party. He doesn't care about what experiences we have in the Duty Finder. Just the numbers.
Lack of accountability is the key deficiency. Hopefully the 2.1 LFG board would alleviate it for some of us who value quality more than efficiency.
I hate to be the rude dude here, but that may have been your fault. I have characters on Leviathan, and I've chatted around and have had little to no negative experience with whom I've chatted with, no matter where or who I've talked to. I hate to point this out, but your character there may be the issue. It is an unoriginal idea to simply create a clone of a character already existing within the series.
With such a thriving roleplay community, I can understand why people don't want to see a Rinoa clone in a game series where she made an appearance. Especially since this game follows the design of the older games, before VII. I'm not saying it's right to be so judgemental, but I can tell you why you may be addressed in such a light.
I always thought that the original group finder for WoW was the best, you could sign up for LFM or LFG, but it wouldn't just slide you into a party on it's own. You still needed a party leader, which is good because there is no system to having a dungeon leader in the current LFD tool. When it's in the hands of a player to form the group, they will put forth a little more effort during the actual run, marking targets to trap/sleep, ensuring all members of the group know the fights, etc. The people looking for a group are encouraged to play nice with PUGs, because if they have a poor image, party leaders will quickly make sure to never invite that person to future dungeon runs. While these cross server groups make it a bit faster to get your dungeon going, I would much prefer a tool that actually encourages players to socialize with others over a tool that just gets you to your destination as fast as possible. If I needed instant action like that, I would play a game like Torchlight.
Things SE can do:
1) Do not allow chest opening until certain mobs are killed
2) Award end of dungeon loot (tomes) only to people that actually participate in all bosses (from the participants point of entry, in case they join mid-dungeon)
3) Boss chest loot only lottable by participants in the boss battle
This is a great start. Along with that, I'd suggest:
4)Vote to kick, initiated by anyone in the party and requiring majority vote. Only works when the initiator is out of combat
5)Cross server black list
6)Right click report function for asshats
7)Ability to turn off all cutscenes after the first time you have seen them in character configuration
Hopefully this will help deal with the AFK leechers and other such jerks in the group. The cutscenes is a quality of life issue - it's annoying to hit ESC every damn time. The issue of people actually watching cutscenes is annoying, but I suppose if the rest of us just go on ahead and they don't get any loot, they'll stop doing it.
I've said it before and I'll say it again - Duty finder is a random group finder where the majority of the time people want to do speed runs. If you want to enjoy the story, either a)do it with friends so you don't have to annoy the DF groups, or b)watch the cutscenes in your Inn room.
The people who sit and make an entire group wait because they have to watch that cutscene, are as selfish and worthy of my blacklist as the jerks who AFK leech tomes, or run ahead for loot boxes. You need to be considerate and think of the majority when you're in a group. It's not about you and what you want and that attitude is what's ruining endgame for a lot of us.

Proof? What's your sample size? Did you chat around on every single server? It's a consensus that the community isn't that great, no one said anything about specific servers being bad and some being good, over all, in general it's a bad community - there's always exceptions.
Btw, some of the most awesome people I've met were a play on a FF character name, so get that generalization out of your head. While true there's a precedence for people named after character to invoke ire of a community...OP did no such thing.
The problem here is two-fold. First, this guy was a jerk and shouldn't have done this..
HOWEVER..
This also wouldn't have happened if SE allowed us to enter dungeons WITHOUT THE DUTY FINDER. It still boggles my mind why we can't simply form a group and walk into a dungeon, they need to re-look at this.
I believe the people that get butt hurt over a name are the people at fault. Seriously, they need to get over themselves. If someone wants to name their character by a past FF character's name because they like them then let them. Don't be so quick to judge someone by a name.I hate to be the rude dude here, but that may have been your fault. Are you crazy? Her name has nothing to do with it. The community in DF is a pile of poo and everyone knows it. It has nothing to do with the OP and I'm offended for her that you even suggested it's all her fault that everyone is so inconsiderate.I hate to be the rude dude here, but that may have been your fault.
