Chocobo not levelling

Hi guys, wondering if anyone else has this problem. I have had my chocobo for some time and levelled it to rank 1 fairly quickly for the first healer skill. Since then, although I have had Drumstick fighting with me and the combat log shows him getting XP his XP bar has not moved at all... I have tried putting him in healer stance figuring maybe as a healer specced chocobo he would only get XP from those skills... no luck there either.

Any ideas on how to fix this? It can't be from the barding he's wearing (second tier twin serpents barding) can it?

the choco's don't seem to get any xp from fates unless you do a lot of the killing yourself. they do get xp from grind kills. after rank 1 the amount of xp needed is by all evidence huge so not seeing the bar move may well be illusion. depends how many kills you have and if it isn't moving anyways.

I am fairly certain that the XP Bar that is displayed is for the TOTAL Xp, and it doesn't necessarily mark out for each individual (similar to the FC's Allegiance to a GC)

Now I can not say for certain that this is true as I don't use my chocobo in combat really as I haven't leveled any alternate classes yet (aside the job required and I did that before you could battle ready your chocobo).

Like was already stated, chocobos only recieve XP from individual kills and not from FATE Completions/Quests/DoLand/DoHand. The amount of XP from 0 to 1 isn't that bad, from 1 to 2 is not fantastic (ran FATEs in Costa Del Sol region with 4 other FC folks using Chocobos, back before FATE grinding had become so intensely popular for a few hours I got 3 levels on my GLD and only the 1 level on the chocobo)

The chocobo companion takes a long time to level past the second rank, i usually take my companion out with me when i go monster material farming or low level levelling. It's rank 4 now but was a long time between ranks 3 and 4 and it barely seems to move, keep at it though it does level and gain exp usually i was rested or had buffs so was getting exp at a different rate to it too.

Ok so it appears that I was wrong in my first response; the bar in the companions window is the progress to next level, not progress from 0 to 10
