The poor quality of Tanks and DPS caused me to find my new niche

So, after doing the story line and every dungeon up to lvl 43 I decided to hang up my staff and give crafting a go.

I've played MMOs for a very long time and I have to honestly say, with no exaggeration, I have never seen so many poor tanks and DPS players in all my life. Now, I am sure if I was something other than a healer, I would have found bad healers too (to be fair).

But after all these black mages throwing down AOE blizzards in a dungeon, Tanks who doesn't know about the Aggro Mechanic (I had to nicely explain it several times) and people not realizing that a red pattern or some other dis colored pattern on the floor with a dungeon boss means to move away, I decided to give Weaving a whirl.

And I am glad I did. When my nerves are frayed, it's pretty relaxing crafting clothing, chatting with guildies on a chat program, and selling your wares.

It's much better than dungeon runs with people who literally have no idea how to play their classes (which is a mystery to me how they can get up to the forties and realize there is something other than aoe blizzards, and a myriad of other issues).

So my advice to you if you're about to pull your hair out...try out crafting if you haven't done so yet.

PS: My Guild and I do dungeon runs whenever a pug has too many bad players. Stone Vigil was only possible with a guild run...we ran through it once. In Pugs, I tried seven times.

We play on the same world, send me a /tell sometime and I'll run some dungeons with ya. I'd be happy to reassure you that there are epic tanks out there, but sadly as you've experience we are very few!

And I can certainly concur with you with most DPS. As for healers though, and most fortunately I've had quite the amazing selections, so no qualms about them...

I've had awful players from all professions sadly, not just tanks and dps. I recently had a party with a tank in aurum vale who STILL didn't know how to mark. And I've had my fair share of medica spamming healers, a summoner who only used the pet actions and never any dots or even ruin, auto attack spamming bards and blizzard II spamming blms. DF is a scary place.

That luckkkk xD my chimera took me only 3 tries but thats because i asked 4 of my experienced friends to help me. Hydra is pretty easy. Garuda on the other hand, kinda sucks if you pug and df the members but if you join those who are farming her on regular basis its also a pretty easy kill

But based on peoplr ranting on my server chimera and garuda and titan are the 3 most pain in the ass quest

I'd say FFXIV:ARR is more demanding and tactical than some others MMORPG. Not that the other are brainless, just that Inimity must be checked constantly by everyone, aoe lag makes them deadly, and jobs use complex mechanisme (not complicated, just complex).

I tanked everything up to and including Aurum Vale with very little problems except the few cases with really bad damage dealers. I ran Stone Vigil from 41 to 44 purely through the DF and had only 1 problematic party.

I also healed everything up to and including Brayflox. Although over there 80% of the tanks I get can't hold two mobs together at once. Square Enix has failed completely at educating people about roles. And the dungeon timer isn't the most friendly design for community education.

My feeling is that proper tanking makes all the leveling dungeons trivial, where the most likely point of failure becomes a bad healer. You should try out tanking. Everything seems to go so much smoother when I choose to tank rather than heal.
