How do I get a mount?

After you choose a Grand Company, you'll get the Chocobo quest, and websites don't update immediately.

you can get a unicorn at lvl 34 white mage too!

Yea lvl 20 is apparently just one requirement. Follow the story line to the parts about the Grand Company stuff and youll see ^_^
I had the same thought when I first dinged 20 like - OI ! whar's mah choco !

I believe you can get the unicorn as soon as level 30, you have to be a Conjurer as well, cannot be in your white mage specialization.

Actually you'll get the Unicorn at 30Conjurer.

At 30, you can do a quest for a Battle Chocobo too.

When people say lvl 20 they mean the lvl 20 side quest "My Little Chocobo" AFTER the lvl 20 story quest "The Company You Keep". In order to recieve the chocobo you need to obtain 2000 seals which can be obtained only after you choose a grand company.

As Khalus already said, you need to decide on a Grand Company first. At the web page (link above) scroll down to the level 20 quests. The flags indicate the three Grand Companies. Decide on one, continue story quest and Choco will be on the horizon..
