Why do we all ? need to have the same color of gear.

Since many got AF or darklight or higher and all are the same colors, We now got a ton the same looking people running around ? Why? This is a mmo . I had thought. Not solo he man or she ra game.
Give out some dyes for trim for some jobs like whitemage,blackmage , other jobs they should be able to look fruity or evil. Give some real players, a little characters in the game. IT IS A MMO.

You will no matter what. If you have Monk AF, I hope you dislike the colors, Red, Black, Blue and Yellow - Those are some of my favorite colors and if I level monk I will be alternating between those colors thus we would end up looking the same. Even in GW2 you had people looking alike character and armor wise because that's just how it is.

Also dying AF will kind of go against the purpose of its iconic design - How many Green and Purple White Mages have you seen in the FF series? The only time you seen "recolors" were other jobs with similar designs to the outfut or FFXI where they redid the armors for Relic/Empyrean/NPCs. It's an MMO based on FF, there will be some limits in certain areas to keep true to the series.

You can color anything you want, it's called "Imagination", and it isn't a loot drop.

Tupsi: Understanding were you coming from, but you would be surprised from what people imagination on the colors can make. Also on ff2 the blackmage af had blue armor, so that out the window there just on the theme park ride anyway. Many people will not use red,black,blue,yellow or white gear. If given the option. They will have a women help deck there colors out or go there way or just fruity there selfs on the colors, from shinny to dull. If you really look into the history of ff you will notice not all gear is the same color it started after ff7. The style now is cool it been the same since nes pixel days.

what the real problem is, why is the high end gear so easy to get, so everyone is walking around in the same stuff. I remember when Darklight was rare.

I don't understand why this is a big deal. I honestly don't even care if there's a dye feature in the game at all or not (which there is).

While personally i could not care less if i look any different from other people in this game. I can see how some people would enjoy that freedom.
I would be interested in reading whats the devs thoughts on this are.

Pretty much only crafted gear can be.

Endgame gear don't need to be dyeable. Vanity slots are coming (with 2.1 or 2.2)
Just put on your endgame gear on your normal gear slots and gear no one else would want to wear (something like pink subligar) on your vanity slots. And you would see that no one would wear the same as you.
