are HM primals and Coil part of the storyline?

topic, cuz im nit a huge fan if endgame grinds and stuff and would rather lvl other classes and crafts.

Yes watch the final ending cutscene and talk to the npcs afterwards and you'll get quests that go along with it

so they are not just 'sideline' quests but flow from the main story? i.e. if i wish to proceed with 2.1 (when it eventually releases) i need to have completed all of the hm primals and coil? lol damn xD

I'm not sure about that one, because the "Main Story" ended at the credits, these are just "Main Scenario" but it's only because it's End Game right now, I don't think 2.1 will require you to have done Coil, but HM Primals will definitely be apart of it.
