You know... Morning for EU's will be Night for US's...Time and time again there are planned server maintenance's during peak hours in the NA/EU server cluster.
Why would SE choose to do this over and over? Every other MMO has always done these types of things in the wee hours of the morning. It is extremely frustrating that this continues to be an issue. Emergencies- understandable...but multiple planned downtime during peak time is unacceptable.
Is this due to arrogance? Monetary constraints? I am failing to understand how this can keep happening. Run the numbers...bring down the servers in off hours.
Thanks for reading.
Afternoon for EU's will be Morning for US's...
It will always affect someone's prime time lol.
Not really. If they did the maintenance early morning, nobody in the US or EU would be impacted during prime time. Britain is 5/6 hours ahead of east coast. The maintenance could be from 3-5pm in Europe(using Britain as a baseline, though you can give or take an hour or two for further east if need be. Just shift the times), 10am-12pm EST, and 7-9am PDT. Boom. Nobody impacted(unless you count areas OUTSIDE of NA/EU).
Like I said, you could even put the maintenance an hour or two earlier and still be fine. Afterall, it's what all the other mainstream MMOs do. I don't see why FFXIV would be any different.
With all that said though, I'm not really all that bothered by not being able to play for 2 hours after work. I just find it a bit funny to see people acting like there is no way to avoid this.
Should just make a sticky so everyone has one place to whine about the maintenance time.
Square Enix is a Japanese company. How do you think WoW players in Europe, Australia, and other parts of the world have felt about their maintenance for the past 9 years? America is not the center of the world, deal with it.

Whaaat? This isn't what they taught me in school.
Either way, you're absolutely correct, the not prime-time for Japan is well, ours. However they stated they will be doing this on Fridays and Sundays(something like Thursdays and Saturdays for us). Something about to reduce lag, or something, but doing maintenance during high-peak DAYS should be a no-no.

They didnt exactly express whose friday it would be, did they?
Its also my prime time, since i play during the night, but well, as i said, it will always affect someone's prime time since the servers share 2 time-zones (NA/EU).
Japanese servers are up, though.
Europe's ahead, yeah, but GMT's only a five hour difference-- this is past peak time for them, but if it had been another six or seven hours from now it wouldn't have hit anybody at all.
Unless you're just going with a "yeah, screw you guys!" for the sake of it, but that seems a little mean-spirited, and proooobably not what SE is going for here.

This about sums it up. We're not their main concern :/
