Most botters don't respond to questions. And yeah you didn't have to respond to his accusations, but you not responding pretty much confirmed it for him. Doesn't hurt to speak up and save everyone's time and paranoia.

I would have replied saying something like:
"I am not sure what you are talking about, Dave"

No, you can automate replies, too. Basic bot programming there. Still, a summoner with garuda-egi couldn't be an RMT bot no matter how you spin it, RMT rarely if ever touch endgame. The ratio of risk vs. reward is terrible, RMT don't do terrible. They only do sure things.
DAM YOU YOU BOT!
Sorry, I know what you mean, was called a bot for circling around for half an hour mining. Which kinda made me want to take the chance of getting my account hacked and get a bot.. so dam boring..
We can easily forgive a child who is afraid of the dark; the real tragedy of life is when men are afraid of the light.
And how are you supposed to level a craft that requires X drop when you have none of them and you have a job that can farm X? It eliminates the usefulness of having a melee/mage job to assist your DOH ones.
The way i see it if you are walking or talking you are not a bot. If i was to come across a bot farming Diremites or Karakuls i would blow up and go on a swearing tirade for sure. The last thing the Behemoth world needs is another crazy person on the loose in chat. The bots on my server usually just bot glitch farm mining and botany (lol bot-any 2 guesses how botany got its name) and sell it all on the black market undercutting other players.
He assumed you were a bot, doubly so when you didn't respond, because that's what you expect bots to do. Maybe your behavior looked like a bot, heck, i'd probably have reported you too if you didn't respond in a tell. I was fishing today, near someone else, and their behavior was "off" from what i saw watching him. A few minutes latter i get an invite to a fishing linkshell, and it turned out he was chatting with people in it, not a bot but explained why he was acting like that.
If you don't want to be thought of as a bot, respond to people. Even though bots can send tells back too, otherwise, take the risk of being thought a bot and reported. Maybe you were botting and are now worried you got reported and will be banned, if that's the case, oh well.
Stop botting then.
If you are interfering with people doing quests, you could be a good person and leave some for them. Just a thought, as many of the mat dropping mobs are for quests too. If you are farming a mob, pick a smaller group, not every single one in a big area, to let others also get the mats.
