Pre-Order Collector's Edition Question.

Good evening!

I just had a question, because some of you may have been in the same situation as me? I'm a 1.0 player, so i had an account already, but i wanted the physical items from the collector's edition (book, music, etc).

Anyway, now that i have my CE, i'm left with what looks to be a free-floating CD key for the game. The only question i have, is that CD key somehow bound to my account, as i pre-ordered it through the square-enix store; Or, am i able to give that to a friend as a gift that's been reluctant to drop money into the game.

Just wondering, any help is appreciated.

So long as you haven't used said CD key, you can give it to whoever you want and it will still work. The Early Access code is not the CD key.

Okay, thanks I just wanted to make sure, it'd be a pretty crummy gift if it ended up not working :P

Also, i guess this ties into it, the mog-station has a digital download of the game, right? Because i can only give them a code (as distance between us makes giving it to them difficult). I just don't want her to register and then find out she can't download the thing. :P

Well, the key could give them access to the digital download, but if you're not sure you could just email them the installer you used for Phase 4/Early Release, it'd work just as well.

I also have 1.0 CE and bought the 2.0 CE as well. Gave it to a friend and they can play fine. They just need to download the client from the URL already posted and register the code to their account.

Strange part is that you cannot upgrade from Normal to CE with an Full CE code. You have to either use the CE code from a different platform (use PS3 for PC, or PC for PS3) or you need to use the CE Upgrade purchase in the mog station.

Alternative is to add the CE as a new service as oppose to the existing normal edition service.
